I saw most of this documentary on BBC2 yesterday. It was amazing! I discovered Son House! Man, what a blues man he was. And he only picked up the guitar at age 25. Made me pick up the acoustic, tune it to open G and grab my slide, and have a go at Death Letter (yes, that White Stripes cover was originally from House).

Scorsese Presents the Blues
Fri 30 Sep, 11:35 pm - 12:55 am 80mins

Feels Like Going Home

Director Martin Scorsese winds his way from the banks of the Niger River in Mali to the cotton fields and juke joints of the Mississippi Delta to trace the origins of the blues in a lyrical combination of original performances and rare archival footage. Featuring music from Willie King, Taj Mahal, Otha Turner, Ali Farka Toure, Son House, Muddy Waters and John Lee Hooker. Contains strong language.

Every guitar player should see this, and probably the other six movies in the serie as well.
