Ohana logistics and tips

Do people here have tips for Ohana for places/areas to stay, and how to get to/from airport to accommodations, and then accommodations to Dana Point?

This will be my first year going.  I’ve been looking at places to stay in Laguna Beach and Irvine as Dana Point is either full up or extremely expensive now.

Thanks a lot everyone!

I'd recommend checking out the other (larger, older) thread about this.

I don't know if the festival still has hotel packages available, but if you aren't renting a car they're a great option.

We don't know where the shuttle bus stop will be this year. That said, we are staying in Aliso Viejo, at the "Renaissance ClubSport," and based on all of the wristbands I saw at breakfast last year, so are a lot of festival-goers. That hotel is, I think, within walking distance of the shuttle bus stop used in previous years (but not last year).

If you're using ride share to get around, I'll recommend skipping the shuttle bus and taking Uber/Lyft straight to the venue. Afterwards you might need to walk a bit to get a ride.

John Wayne Airport is 20-30 minutes to Aliso Viejo, Mission Viejo, etc. There isn't a lot of public transportation, so you would be taking Uber/ Lyft from airport to hotel.

***If you're renting a car then you can choose to fly into LAX, John Wayne, or San Diego, depending on flight times and prices. Then you would just find a reasonably priced hotel in south Orange County and drive your rental car to the shuttle bus site each day to get to the venue. Last year they offered reserved/ pre-paid parking very near the venue for something like $50, but I don't know if they're doing that this year.

South Orange County (Dana Point, San Clemente, Mission Viejo, Laguna Niguel, Laguna Beach, Aliso Viejo, San Juan Capistrano, Irvine, etc.) is safe and quite nice.
