Membership Code No Longer Good for Free MP3
Full discloser, This was already posted as a response deep in another thread, but if this issue is an error I figured I'd try and give it some exposure.
Really hoping this is an unintended error of the price increase. Benefits say free MP3 OR $10.00 off of another format. If it's not a mistake I find it kind of insulting. We used to get a single (physical and digital), a magazine (physical and digital), a code good for a free MP3, and a chance to maybe buy tickets if the band happens to be touring. I understand the physical goods can be expensive to produce and ship, so we lost those. In fairness, they reduced the price by $5.00, bringing the cost from $40.00 to $35.00.
While I was bummed by the loss of the additional items (as I'm sure we all were), it did make sense to me logistically and I was ok with it. However, going in this morning to apply my 2023 code to Vancouver and seeing a remaining $2.99 really pissed me off. Just felt like adding insult to injury and I removed the item from my cart. Come on, it's a download. It doesn't really cost any more to produce.
For the record, I have no problem spending $12.99 (or more) when purchasing a bootleg outside of my yearly code, which I have done in the past. I think getting one free bootleg is a reasonable expectation.
Crossing my fingers that this is unforeseen and that the code will now be good for a free mp3 or 12.99 off of any other format.
