Alternatives to Pearl Jam

Sorry to say I can only listen to Pearl Jam non stop for so long before I need something else. Any recommendations on other bands to checkout that have a similar sound?

    They sound nothing like Pearl Jam, but my third favorite band is Wilco. The Beatles rank #2 but you already know their stuff.

    Let's be clear: If no PJ, the be god damn sure not to compare #2 to them. Once those expectations are gone, there are several cool/fun bands. Petty, Floyd, Killers, DMB. Glen Hansard (Between Two Shores is AMAZING) are solid choices.

    As other mentioned,  Pearl Jam is unique, but if you are looking for quality new music to check out, then all of the above recommendations PLUS I highly recommend diving in to the Nine Inch Nails album "The Fragile".

    Tool!  Nothing like PJ, but I'm almost as passionate about them as i am about PJ... almost
    And, Faith No More.  They're an acquired taste, but well worth the investment to dig into.

    Taking Meds has a song called Outside that references Pearl Jam and Alice In Chains in the first verse.

    I've seen Wilco 52 times since 1995, and Pearl Jam 72 times since 1994, but I've seen Jeff Tweedy in one form or another 81 times including the Wilco shows, so he has the edge. By the end of this month, PJ (and Ed) will regain the lead by a hair (80 PJ plus 2 EV and 1 EV/MM).

    I second Dinosaur Jr. and Wednesday is great! Saw them open the Truckers in The Caverns in Tennessee.

    That is an impressive number of Wilco/Tweedy shows. I tried to see them two nights in a row in New York for the YHF shows but my girl was not having it. She loves PJ, but not so much Wilco.

    Definitely the Drive-By Truckers. Their studio albums have somewhat tapered off to me the last couple releases, but they kill it in the live show every night. I love Wilco too, but cannot stand their latest album and really haven't liked anything by them since Star Wars in 2015.

    Last fall I caught Hollier opening for the Old 97s. They were the first opening band in a long time to make me feel like I was back in the early 2000s, discovering rock and roll bands on my own for the first time.

    Eric Church would be my suggestion. His older stuff. He has the same passion/believability in his songs as Pearl Jam does. 

    He's not necessarily in my regular rotation as of late.

    I saw my first Wilco show just two months after A.M. came out, so I had a head start, but I've been racking up the Tweedy shows thanks to his annual residency at Largo here in L.A. I've seen him there 20 times now, almost every time in the front row. I just saw him there four times in five nights the week before Dark Matter came out.
