I have a better chance of winning the lottery than the schmucks in Washington to do anything substantive in relation to Ticketmaster, because technically they can't.  Every venue in the country can choose to work with a different vendor, they just refuse to do so.  Every promoter and venue is complicit in this.
His eminence has yet to show.

Spoiler: They will not face the music.

  • It took the most powerful Avenger in the history of the multiverse (Taylor Swift) for things to even get this far, but I am also skeptical about any real change from this.

Who would take their place and how would that be any different?

Who can handle Taylor Swift level of demand?

I mean, it seems to me whenever theirs an antitrust lawsuit, or even a merger request.  There's some minor concessions, but in the long term it has minimal impact?

I can't believe it took this long.  They have a monopoly on the overwhelming majority of the best venues in North America, no one competes, as they have exclusivity contracts.  Then LiveNation is the biggest promoter, so they massive veritical integration of controlling almost everything.

Hopefully they rule that TM and LN need to be split apart.

Does Charlie Brown trying to kick the football ring any bells?

I remain skeptical. I highly doubt they can handle a complex issue successfully with the current installment of people in the DoJ. This is political posturing so they can say they tried in election year.

Hopefully, we can get vouchers for $10 off a limited number of TM shows that no one wants to go to!
I've seen quite a few Pearl Jam shows.

I was literally about to bring up the last time TM "faced the music". We got nothing and nothing changed. Woo.

I had no idea people still believe in the justice department. I can understand the Toothfairy, the Easter Bunny and Santa Claus but the DOJ...

If this was Behind the Music, the CEO of Ticketmaster would get a substance abuse problem and they would break up for a few years.
