I have an acoustic I bring every where I travel. Most of the time I can get it in the cabin. If there is no room they just check it at the gate. Recommend you slacken your strings before flying and let it adjust to the new temperature and humidity for 24 hours before tuning. The only damage I've had is my case is slowly getting beat up but that's what it's made for.

    thanks for the heads up.

i knew to detune it a bit,but not to let it adjust to the travel before retuning.
