After 20 years I want to get back into playing guitar. My 13 year old has been playing about 1 and 1/2 years and has motivated me. We both love rock, especially PJ.

My son has a Fender Strat, made in Mexico. I would like to get something a bit better, so that he can use it in the future. My goal is not stay below 41,000, if possible. I don't want this mid=life crisis to cost too much.

Any suggestions?

thanks

arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to
slide in sideways, BBQ sandwich in one hand, cold beer in the other,
body thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and screaming "Woo Hoo what a
ride" ! Unknown

For $41,000 I can get you a ton of guitars.

My guess is you mean $4,100

    Still a billion options.

Since you want something better. We'll need to know what you think looks cool. Since you like Pearl Jam who's guitars do you like better. Mike Stone or Ed just based on looks?

Ok. Since your son has the Strat.

I'd go with an SG Special with out blinking.

The Epiphone Elite 61 RI is probably even a better choice because of it's grover tuners. and nicer inlay.

My links aren't working but you might try

http://www.musiciansfriend.com Both should cost you less than 900 with a hardshell case.

There are two Gibson Les Paul Studio guitars here in town that are both selling for about $700. Try to find a better, but pre-owned, Gibson.
...and if you don't like it, you can suck on an egg.

ebay is your friend. look on there for a bargain. just make sure that you really check out the sellers stats, make sure he is genuine. i have heard there are some fraudulent sales on ebay with guitars. never buy from a first time seller unless you can go and collect the item yourself.
