Not that I’m against it, but it's really awkward touring under the “dead” name, and now they are doubling down on using that name. I’ve had a few convos with younger fans telling me they “just saw the dead.” Despite what fans may say to defend this, without a doubt it is causing confusion in the marketplace.
Come one man!  It's still Bobby and Mick.  They should be using the Dead name in some form.  What do you mean by doubling down?

I will absolutely be going to a weekend at Sphere.  I did it with the PJ Vegas shows as well and loved it.

The music is timeless, it's not an era to me.  So I love that they are keeping it going and when Bobby's done, I'd love for someone else to pick up the mantle.  The music will never die.

Doubling down means the dead name is used twice by calling the shows "dead forever." I think it's great they are still playing the songs live, but use of the dead name is confusing younger fans. I will not forget my youngish neighbor telling me he went to "see the grateful dead" in 2023. I am strongly influenced by the band behind my board name, to them use of their band name is taboo after the death or non participation of any member. Many said they were too serious about that, and they relented for two shows when Dave Grohl asked them to play the Taylor tribute shows.

I just checked setlist.fm to see when I saw SOAD in New Jersey 2005.  It was August 23.  If I go to the Metlife show it will be almost two decades to the day of seeing SOAD.

Man I just checked and the Worcester show on that tour was my last one too. Mars Volta opened! They played Mansfield with the Deftones in 2012 and I can't figure out for the life of me why I missed that. Anyway, I'd love to see an arena or amphitheatre headliner but not holding my breath.

Wow I forgot Mars Volta opened.  I thought they were terrible that night (lol) but its because I couldn't understand them at the time.  Saw them again when they opened for RHCP a year later and loved them!

One of my favorite bands. Out of my gourd that they're opening the Deftones tour next year.

Isbell is definitely in a peak right now with Will Johnson in the 400 Unit. If you've been meaning to catch him now is a great time to do it.

I can only imagine the reaction to this lineup but, after taking a breath and counting, I would earnestly enjoy 8-12 of these sets
