MSG vs Fenway

Trying to decide between MSG night 2 and Fenway night 1. I've never been to Fenway before so not sure which venue to go to. May go to both if possible but if you had to choose...

If cost is no option, then I'd say MSG (and that is coming from a Bostonian). Outside of the sphere, red rocks, and the gorge, I'm not sure there's an arena/amphitheater I'd rather see this band at more than MSG. Objectively, Fenway has worse acoustics and even "good" seats are further away than what you'll get in a bad seat at MSG. That said, Fenway is going to be a much easier ticket to get.
  • They both have their advantages and disadvantages.

    MSG
    lots of history there
    band tends to bring it
    manhattan is fun
    sound is great
    but it’s indoors

    fenway
some people find it to be special
depending on seats you can be VERY far from the action
eddie loves the cubs and loves the Red Sox because of their similar “bad luck” for 86 years or so
    weather could be a factor
    some people hate ballpark shows

I mean, I'd pick MSG 100 out of 100 times.  Fenway was cool the first time(and I'll have gone six times by the end of the year) but nothing beats an arena show and MSG is pretty much the mecca. It'll certainly be easier to get into Fenway, but if $$ isn't an option, go to MSG
  • If traveling I would say MSG in case of rain.

A concert on Fenway on a nice day can be a good time. The sound in the field boxes imo is better than most outdoor venues. I wouldn't pay $10 to sit under the roof in the grandstands though. Sound there has been noticeably 1000x worse just walking back to get a beer.

Arena shows over ballparks ALL. DAY. LONG. Not even close
  • MSG for sure.  Fenway would be fun if you have GA.

Fenway has the CELEBRATION of the band feel, more people in town,  merch is crazier.....but for overall concert, Arena...MSG

I landed 2nd row, center through that lottery within the lottery. Maybe the best show out of my 19, I have ever seen. Magical ✨

  • Wow, that's amazing. How does the lottery within the lottery work?

  • Looking like MSG is the way to go. I've already seen them there and it was amazing but was wondering about Fenway. New experience vs a place I've been to already.

I don't think they do that any longer. Fenway now has a pit for GA.

Amazing! That was the loudest I have heard a crowd singing Nothingman in all of my shows.

Night 2 in 2016 was for sure the best Fenway show they've done. Hoping they will top it this summer.

Never seen them in either location but I would trade my Fenway GA tix for MSG in a heartbeat if I could make the days work this year (which I can't)

    Cleveland 03', Cincinnati 03' (Flooded), Cincinnati 06', Cincinnati 14', Chicago N2 23', Indy 23' (Cancelled), Vegas N2 24', Seattle N1 24', Indy 24', Chicago N2 24'
    __________
    Boston N1 24'
  • I have grand stand seats for Fenway so I guess those aren't so great. Decided to definitely go to MSG night 2 but will possibly sell Fenway. May upgrade them if I can.

I found MSG to be overrated, but that is just one Masshole's opinion.

I loved Fenway.  Saw the 8/7/16 show and it was awesome.  Especially cool to be on the field.  But I would take MSG all day because it's inside and weather is not a factor.  But as a one-timer, I'm so glad I made it to Fenway for a show.  Great memories.

Now that they re-did it, it's a little too 'boooooshhie' for rock and roll. Agreed. Not a masshole ;)

Fenway in ‘16 was pretty excellent when I was pretty close up. Mediocre in ‘18 when I was further back.

MSG even when the sets aren’t the TOP, the atmosphere is still unbeatable.

This is true. That crowd in 2022 was amazing.

    MSG experience was unrivaled.

Stadium set lists usually the best though.

I was curious as to your opinion on Tickets in TURFB5 row 19.  They look like good seats on map but I have a feeling it will be pretty far back.  I will admit I'm spoiled and like really good tickets. I will be traveling from Texas so I'm not certain if I should sell my tickets and try for different venue.

I’m from Pittsburgh, actually have seen the band at both venues.  I loved both Fenway shows I was at, but nothing compares to the Garden.

the energy the crowd gives the band and vice versa, is just different.  Special

Do both if you can!  Otherwise, I'd lean towards MSG.
