i was considering an electro-harmonix big muff and wondered what exactly was the difference tone/build wise between the american and russian one? the russian is cheaper, why? the american is dearer, why? i am not looking really to 'emulate' anyone's particular tone, i just want a good fuzz. thanks :).
seems that needlessly its getting harder

don't buy the black russian one unless you're willing to invest a bit more in upgrading the jacks etc. and true bypassing it.

it sounds great when it's on but it's a tone-sucker when it's off and it's built very cheaply.

the USA muff sounds great as well, just different. but it's true bypass and uses much higher quality components throughout.
