  • you are traveling 2200 miles for bonnaroo????

    where do you live????

its about that far for me and im probably going

especially if they play other shows nearby , see a few solo shows check out the one night at the roo.

i love festivals and camping but prob wont do the whole fest cuz fests are bloody expensive, if youre traveling there you need to budget for about an extra 500-1000 dollars just for the weekend especially considering the costs of posters and merch

Wait, anyone whose been to Roo..you can buy single day tickets right ??

    My thoughts EXACTLY ;)
  • Some of those pennies were quite aromatic. Stinky pennies are worth seeing Jim James in an elevator and just smiling like a clown, though! Bonnaroo will be SOOOOO much cooler. I'm hoping Radiohead is added to the lineup. If that happens........

I forgot about Jim James in the elevator! No elevators at roo though...even in the sweetest of Rvs. ;)

I went to both last year, and Lolla sucked compared to Roo. Lolla had short sets, music ended at like 10pm, and it didn't quite have the same feeling at Bonnaroo. Hardest thing about Roo thought is keeping your energy up. It's so freaking hot.

Lots of water, lots of spf 80, and a little ac in the RV will help ;)
  • Good luck finding a hotel/motel or RV at this point. I've already looked and couldn't find shit.

I went prepared last year...just didn't have the RV. A/C would have been perfect. Still survived and had a great time. Once the sun goes down the fun really begins.

I'm 30 (31 by roo time!), married (but complicated), a fulltime and a partime time job, trying hard to get a morgage in this "booming" economy, and i have no children. Maybe if i had kids, things would be different...but then, maybe not. I am a "grown-up" with lots of responsibility... i just make sure that i have enough vacation time and money saved that by the time PJ tours, i can go.

Hopefully, you can align those planets and be there too!

i didn't mean to imply that you weren't a grown-up. and thanks for the positive vibes...

honestly, i've dropped life like a hot potato and gone off for a week or ten days at a time seeing shows. but, with the kid and the business and all, it's just no longer that easy for me to do. and i think the "whining" we are doing comes from the fact that pearl jam did plenty of dates in this area of the country on tours until the 06 tour. guess we got spoiled. i wouldnt' wish it on anyone else, but if all those people in the northeast who are used to getting plenty of shows suddenly got none for several years, even though the band was playing everywhere else, they'd be whining, too.

we'll all just have to deal the best way we can, but (to everyone), please don't be hostile with us for wanting them back. it's been a long, long time for us....

Me too. People complain about them doing festivals, but I like the odd one. It gives those with a low TC number to get up close if they want. I took full advantage of that at Lolla last year, and paid the price being in the heat all day with no shade. No regrets though..would totally do it again.

I'm betting that Bonnaroo will be the only announcement late on Tuesday.

If there are other 2008 Pearl Jam shows, I predict they will not be made known the same day as PJ's appearance at Bonnaroo is revealed.

I also don't expect to get the kitschy "This will be Pearl Jam's only appearance in 2008 disclaimer" or anything like the Lollapalooza billing last year. They've got to keep their options open, especially in an election year.

It's the price you pay. I did it at Lolla and had no regrets. Still saw KOL and MMJ, which were great. I don't think I'd do it at roo though. Too many quality bands I wouldn't wanna miss.

Camping out with fellow die hard PJ fans at Lolla was great. Everyone was so nice to each other, and we all shared something in common - diehard fans wanting to see their favorite band up close (when you couldn't get close at a regular show).
  • i'm with ya! i dream of another 3 nighter at jones beach...say in july or august......wooohooooooo! i missed out in 2000, wasn't a 'big fan' back then. :o that would be soooooooo beautiful!

or whatever, just a full-out pearl jam show in NY! or close! :D just not between march 1st and april 15th.....or september 1st and october 15th! :p

btw - don't need a festival to have a GA show! there's been a few here and loads abroad, so those of us with shite 10C #s do have the rare opportunity now and again outside of festivals...and thank bejeebus for that!

I can't wait for Bonnaroo. Driving down from PA. Meandering through an incredibly beautiful part of the US brings back memories of the four VFC shows I saw in 04. Sirius, PJ cds, and my rusty old steed. I'm Gone for sure.
