What are the best parts?

first and last snippet sound the best to my ears. Really getting soaring vibes from the last.

Agreed on the first snippet, sounding like one of the best, rocking! I really like the second as well... "hold onto the wreckage..." (unofficially LOL). Third one rocks! 4th is very come back-ish to me, which I like. 5th feels like another, parachutes, I'll take it. 6th is solid, has some of that soaring to it. 7th sounds like an earthlings song, maybe that is waiting for Stevie. The sound quality really dips on the last clip, so I really have to concentrate to pick up on it, but I can hear the soaring vibes you mentioned now.

Overall, seems like a straight forward rock album which is what should be their wheelhouse and I am very, VERY excited for this release.

Def get the come back on track 4 but maybe with Pink Floyd vibes. Track three seems like the “fist pumping” chorus mentioned in spin. I don’t particularly connect with the penultimate track from what I hear at the moment. Hopefully that changes. But first and last have me cautiously optimistic.

Same, as much as I liked the earthlings CD, I don’t want it to bleed into PJ much.

Yeah I thought earthling was a nice outing for Ed but I don’t want that completely replicated in DM. I know we will get some elements of that. Also, this is supposedly a Matt/mike record, but man I really want to hear a lot of stone. Like MLB stone. Mr Danny Boy stone.
  • For me about 5 of the 8 clips were interesting. I just wonder why only clips were uploaded and if some might be multiple parts of one song.

*1-screeching solo guitar tone reminds of DTE
    *2-In My Tree vibes
    *3-Of the Earth-ish
4-Parachutes but with a guitar solo over it
5-not sure but not a big fan of this
    *6-Amongst the Waves feel
    7-a country tempo
    *8-feels like a Gigaton song

Nothing here really reminds me of the first three albums, maybe a little Yield or No Code. As far as teasers go I will always wish for a proper rock album without the slow second side they seem to always have now.

Yeah - there may be some overlap to the clips (a couple might be the same track), but my GUESS is that they are all different songs.  Who knows?

1 could this be scared of fear? im prob setting myself up, but I have really high hopes here. reminds me a touch of SBWM but with more chunk and seems to have a more dynamic/punchy rhythm part behind it vs SBWM's sputtering. i already like Mike's soloing here much better than anything on gig

2 is wreckage right? shortest clip I think but reminds me of something from no code

3 I feel like this COULD be the chorus to #2 - sounds like fixer chorus but with more violence and urgency.

4 come back ish w a Pink Floyd twist

5 really don't know if I have a suitable comparison here

6 seems like we're going into the bridge of the song here and it feels like in hiding (I hear a touch of ATW too)

    7 def has a pop-country feel/tempo to it.

8 I actually get a little bit of last exit in terms of tempo and cadence, but more soaring like it borrows from the end of inside job.

I think we have 10/11 song titles from YouTube guy:

    Scared of Fear
    React/Respond
    Running
    Dark Matter
    Upper Hand
    Something Special
    Wreckage
Getting to Go?? (he said something like this but wasn't sure exactly)
    Waiting for Stevie
    Setting Sun (closer)

The tracking never matters to me as I re-track record to my own ideal sequence (yeah I think I can do it better lol).

    1. Sounds like a banger.  Love what I’m hearing.
    2. Getting no code vibes.  Like if Who You Are and In My Tree had a baby.
    3.  Another banger.  Definitely the fist pumping chorus
    4.  Getting Pink Floyd/NAIS vibes.  For some reason I feel like this song is Dark Matter
    5.  A little parachutes vibes but really only in the cadence.  Guitars are rougher and then sounds like we’re heading into a nice little pop chorus
6.Just want that clip to keep going.  Like the tone on the guitars at the end where it sounds like we’re going into the bridge.
    7.   A little too straightforward.  Of course we only have little snippets behind a metal door but but even sounds out of place compared to the other clips.
    8. Sounds like maybe the penultimate song?  Like we’re rising out of the darkness heading into the reflective closer?

I don’t know if #4 is DM. Possible of course but I think YouTube guy said DM was “heavy heavy”.

    Maybe we will know soon….

Agreed on the Pink Floyd and NAIS vibes.

I also agree on wanting more Stone and getting some old school Stone riffs. Buckle up is all we got on Gigaton and that ain’t right. Mike was prevalent on Avocado and if that is any indication, I would happily take a Mike heavy DM.

I’m also very curious to find out if wottman used any different mic’ing techniques for Ed. Or even more generally, how loud the vocals came out in the mix. Hopefully not as loud as LB or Gig. We need more of the no code/yield level ed.
