Next tour support band or not

Having seen the three hour solo shows and the shorter two hour 15 with a support, I would love the band to go back to the longer format with an acoustic section in the middle. But I guess the longer shows are now resigned to history so if a support band who?    One band I would love to see play a shorter set than they would normally do as support would be Goose.

Pearl Jam/Jacket at Fenway let's make it happen
  • It has been said that after what happened to Matt’s good friend Taylor Hawkins, the 3 hour shows may not be coming back. Very taxing for older musicians.

Would love Baroness.  Or The Mars Volta.  Something metal to make the PJ fanbase slightly uncomfortable.

Did anyone from the band say or imply this? Seems unlikely that they’d attribute a decision to this specifically. Otherwise, it’s more likely the move away from the three hour/nearly 30 song sets just had to do with age (and not an acute event like Hawkins’ passing). They’re at or near 60. That run from ‘03 to ‘16/‘18 was just epic.

If they tour with support in 2024, maybe one of the bands from Stone’s Loosegrove label, like Tiger Cub.

I like Goose a lot, but the vibe is really different from Pearl Jam.

I've seen their 60 minute festival set a couple times and that would work. Typical Goose set....not so much. Would be fun to hear the reaction though.

You know they'd join PJ on stage at some point if that happened!

Frankly I think they're too big. They can just about play arenas themselves.

I'm also skeptical it has anything to do w/ Hawkins... set lists from 2018 suggest they were trending in this direction long before he passed. 4 of the 7 stadium shows were 30 songs or fewer, and plenty of the European shows earlier in the year maxed out at 27-29 songs / night as well, and I don't think those were festivals.

I recall being a little underwhelmed after the 2 Fenway shows that year... IIRC Mike was sick on N2, but based on the 2013-2016 shows, I was definitely expecting longer sets.

I'm not complaining by any stretch, those shows were great, but to me they also marked the end of the epic 3 hour 34(+/-) song sets they had spoiled us with for so long.

    Preservation Jazz Hall Band

Would set a fun, light-hearted mood to start.

They'd jump on stage and jam with PJ. Saw them play with MMJ and jammed some heavy tune together.
    Game on

You ever seen them at preservation hall in NOLA? If not, I highly recommend it. It’s awesome seeing them in such an intimate space.

Whomever it is will have little to no notoriety. They sign up young artists not many are familiar with because they cost less to add to the bill.

I'd rather no opening band and push 2hr 45 min. Even if they need a 15 minute intermission and add 4 to 5 slower songs to do it.

I'm going to skip the opener unless it's a little heavier/actual rock band.

I hope that they wont be have a support band, that would mean back to "an evening with pearl jam" shows aka longer shows.

that being said , i think they will have a support band.
