i usually went to my mom's house for Thanksgiving and my sister, her husband, and my uncle would visit, but my mom moved away (she lives closer to my sister now actually in upstate New York now). So I don't really have any plans. Maybe go to a restaurant that serves Thanksgiving dinner or maybe i'll just order pizza  I did buy a pumpkin pie (my favorite) so definitely having some of that.

Escarole soup. The wife’s family likes to make an incredibly time consuming soup to eat while cooking an incredibly time consuming meal…so tonight prepping stuffing and all and eating soup and drinking wine.

I was responsible for the stock and browning the meatballs.

As for plans, driving all fucking over…Philly to the Wilkes barre area and back for my family then to the in laws to close out the night with lots of good wine

Looks great^^gg!!  @Get_Right spatchcocked turkey. Thanks for suggesting. Dry brined for a couple days uncovered in fridge. Ultimately seasoned with salt pepper paprika brown sugar thyme. Softened butter smeared it all over. 4 splits of pinot grisio (sp?). A small handful of salt.
Mesquite chips in foil bags with holes. Got gas grill going all four burners. Chips smoking. Threw turkey on after about 20 min, turned off two middle burners. Lowered the others. Now wait, put up some decorations, drink mad amounts of coffee, and hardest part is not to peek.

Funny when you talk turkey everyone has a different way of cooking it.

    Smoke smells so good.

Happy Thanksgiving all. Lots of ❤️

maybe 15 or so people at my BIL’s…I love the guy and he’s maybe 1/4 mile away, which is good for the tipsy drive home.

he’s a good cook….he’ll be baking and smoking a turkey. his wife is a terrible cook and does the same sides every year that no one eats (if they do, it’s only out of courtesy)

this is one of the few times the BIL’s house gets cleaned….the family is a bunch of absolute slobs…we always say “it looks like a bomb went off in there”….luckily, their personal hygiene is fine.

bloody mary’s at noon at another venue.

and, god, let’s hope my cowboys don’t lay an egg vs. the commies.

Love it and hope you post a pic or two! My 14 lb turkey fresh from the farm is sitting in an apple sage wet brine. We will use the injector and add some broth flavored with Bell's poultry seasoning. I think I am going regular roast Turkey this year.  I will try to post some pics of the bird and all of the sides. Happy Thanksgiving Y'all!

I feel for ya, J! I just spent two weeks not exercising and resting while eating Halloween candy and felt terrible. I couldn't sleep through the night for many nights in a row and well - was a little bonkers! Rest up and get better soon!

GG- your tart looks great! Thank you for the recipe!!

We're having a small group of friends and doing the trad dinner here.  Kind of fun this year as Thanksgiving this year falls on our 19th wedding anniversary.

Also, earlier medical news this week leaves me with huge reasons to be thankful!
