Mike McCready with Kim Virant and Chris Friel
Mike McCready, lead guitarist and co-founder of Pearl Jam, holds a prominent place in the rock scene, having been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2017. Beyond his role in Pearl Jam, he's contributed to notable bands like Temple of the Dog, Mad Season, The Rockfords, and his first-ever band, Shadow. Inspired to pick up the guitar again after witnessing Stevie Ray Vaughan's awe-inspiring performance, McCready reconnected with childhood friend Stone Gossard, laying the groundwork for Pearl Jam's formation. Known for his versatile style drawing from blues and various genres, his guitar solos in "Alive" and "Yellow Ledbetter" were recognized by Guitar World. Beyond music, McCready delves into scoring for TV and film projects, founded HockeyTalkter Records, authored a photo book, and co-established Mutual Arts Collective, a Seattle-based art gallery prioritizing underserved communities. Committed to philanthropy, he dedicates time and resources to the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation, engages in charity events, and advocates for a nationalized healthcare system. McCready's multifaceted career extends to family life as a father of three with his wife Ashley O'Connor.
