Pretty cool to see Ed talk about it. The album they’re promoting is a compilation of the first Klark Kent album & demos. It consisted of Copeland’s rejected songs from the first 2 Police album sessions. When it was recorded none of them knew if the Police would make it. By the time it came out they were number one in the UK. They didn’t want to distract from the Police, so they put Copeland in disguise as KK, and created this whole krypton mystery.
Cool fact… when Klark Kent became a hit and went on top of the pops in the uk, he had no band. So the backing band for the night was actually Sting and Andy Summers and a roadie all wearing masks. The footage is out there.
