  • People don't often highlight Lightning Bolt at that pivot point, but I do love that record. I think Backspacer is a less labored record. I do think it's creative, but it feels a little light and perhaps 'drafty'
  • "Lightning Bolt is a record about legacy, the relationship between past, present, and future, the challenge of renewal, and the fragility, insecurity, and drive that comes from having something, finally, to lose."

I Am No Guide: Pearl Jam Song by Song - out 11/19

  • "Gigaton has faith in our collective agency, believes in the promise of the next generation to craft a better story for themselves, and the power of this one to write a better ending to its own."

Thoughts? "I Am No Guide" is out tomorrow, 11/19! #

  • We are on this week's episode of the State of Love and Trust podcast to talk about the book.  Check it out (and the podcast generally, which is great!)

We know that many of our American fans are getting notifications that Amazon is experiencing supply chain issues. We're SO sorry, but please hang in there with us as we sort this out. We're hoping to get our book into your hands before Christmas.  We really cannot wait for you to read this!

    not yet :)
  • Quick update - supply chain issues are delaying the int'l shipping of I Am No Guide. Publisher (Fonthill Media) estimates 4-6 weeks with a more precise update in 1-2 weeks. We sincerely apologize and thank you for your patience. This is frustrating for us as well, but we hope and expect it will be worth the wait!

Amazon now says a Feb release. This should be coming out before then and will be updated with a more accurate time in 1-2 weeks. You can order directly through the publisher website for immediate shipping

Is the (one) review on Amazon correct?

"Admittedly I haven’t read the book yet, just opened it and flicked through. But really very surprised to find that each song passage doesn't include the actual lyrics they are taking about, so there is nothing to reference back to. I’ll now need to pull up the lyrics separately to study alongside the book to get the effect I wanted. Not sure how this didn’t occur to anyone during the whole publication process!! What a weird oversight!"

  • It's true there are no full lyrics in the book, though lyrics are regularly quoted. We do not have the rights to reprint full lyrics (and couldn't tell you with definitive certainty that we had them right!).  This book (as is the case with every book in this publisher's Band X Song by Song series) is a series of entries ABOUT each song, not a lyric/tablature book (and we never claimed it was)

  • "Dark Matter can hold two contradictory thoughts at the same time. Every song owns its fear and embraces its joy. Each composition grapples with history and dreams of possibility. It understands the end is coming and the future is forever..."

Agree? Disagree?   I Am No Guide will be out soon!  Specific date as soon as I have it

  • "Black is about as melodramatic as Pearl Jam gets, masterfully inching right up to the line without crossing over. It is self-aware enough to know the world is not ending but empathetic to know that, for the person caught in the moment, it feels like it is."

Thoughts? Want to read more? "I Am No Guide: Pearl Jam Song by Song" is out in some places now, and out everywhere soon!

  • "Go is a riot in full swing, a combination of a mob surging forward and authorities pushing back. It somehow argues both for and against acts of mutual self-destruction."

Thoughts? 'I Am No Guide: Pearl Jam Song by Song' is out soon!

  • "Better Man is simultaneously wistful and tender, recognizing that underneath its complicated wreckage is a desperate desire to love and to be loved - an all too human fear of being alone that compels us to make poor choices."

Agree/Disagree? 'I Am No Guide: Pearl Jam Song by Song' is out soon!

I read that review and was immediately annoyed. Like, honestly are people not aware of copyright laws? I hope people who see that have enough critical thinking skills to dismiss it.

  • "In a world defined by alienation, it is easier to die a slow death than fight to get it back again. Parting Ways, and Binaural, remind us that gradual decay is not an escape. Not life - just a muted death. Binaural, more than any other album in the band's catalog, is a cautionary tale. Its answers are negative. Its anthems warnings. That is the source of it's power."

(I Am No Guide shipping update. Books are on the boat in the UK, waiting to leave port.  Then they cross the Atlantic, sit in customs, and finally make their way to Amazon for distribution)
  • "We must stare down the overwhelming forces in our lives and refuse to blink. Anger is a font of power when focused on the right people. And the twitchy, scratching energy of World Wide Suicide knows how to pull that anger out of grief, and exactly where to aim it."

  • "Unthought Known is appreciates the world as a stage upon which we act and through those actions fulfill our potential and create ourselves. Eddie commits with a childlike sense of wonder filtered through the experiences of an older, wiser man returning to a place of innocence." p. 152

What do you think Unthought Known is about?
  • "Sirens feels alternately muted or distant even as it swells-images rapidly receding in the way dreams do, refusing to voice delicate sentiments too loudly for fear of disturbing a fragile peace. The terror must be kept private, and gives Sirens a disarmingly melancholy tone."

What's the wait on delivery to Australia?
    Come to send, not condescend...
  • i assume roughly the same time as the US.  We were just told Jan 21.
  • Wreckage is about life and loss, and the patterns in our lives that lead us there. A sense of inevitability runs through it, a palpable longing for something we cannot get back. Its gliding melody's understated beauty masks some of Dark Matter's more quietly apocalyptic moments.
