The only situation that comes to mind where an artist dropped a huge amount of prints above and beyond their AP allotment was the 2005 South America tour poster from Brad Klausen.  I believe the band pulled the poster from being sold at shows because Stone wasn't happy with the theme so Brad was a left with a bunch to sell on his own.
That's interesting... Is this the one you are referring to? If so, I can see how it may be a bit divisive... Do you have a link to an article or anything about it? I never heard about this before.

Weird I have this poster, not in the best shape but frameable. Forget where I got it, maybe a mystery box or scratch and dent sale someplace? I wouldn't have gotten it from Brad's site, I don't think.
Wouldn't it be funny if the world ended in 2010, with lots of fire?

If you read the comments on ebeans… it looks like Brad sold some at flatstock and his website.  And some poster dealers ended up with copies too.  And then later the ten club sold them as well.

There is no more of a weird collector thing than having a thing and speculating if it’s bad that others might now have it too. Lol

There’s another discussion on ebeans where the circumstances of the 2005 SA poster are discussed and it gets pretty heated.  Brad Klausen is involved and puts a dude in his place. I wish I could remember which poster the discussion takes place because it has a lot of background info on it from Brad himself.

Well the ones I want won't be available for a while if they do this a month at a time. But maybe that means they'll get any kinks worked out before then, heh.

With all the money they are making, you would think they could afford to send items internationally.

When you're talking about a single copy of a rare poster available directly from an artist, that is its own unique market
