Ok this is driving me crazy. Where did we hear the past few days the PJ was rumored to be playing Austin City Limits this year in September?
I remember seeing this posted and it had a link to the ACL website but don't remember if it came from one of the people that met a band member or what.
PJ - 36
EV - 5

There is no 2008 lineup on the web site. Not sure when that is announced.

I was just looking up hotels out of curiosity and a lot are already booked.

Last year they announced the lineup around the middle of May, but the festival was 9/14-16. It's about two weeks later this year, but I imagine the end of May is a good guess.

heard today that three different websites had R.E.M. on Friday, Pearl Jam on Saturday, and Radiohead on Sunday, for whatever it's worth. That would blow my effin mind. And the weekend after my bday, to boot. Noice.

That would kick ass. I am not a Radiohead fan, so I could opt to leave on Sunday and make it home easy.

    I can't wait for this.

Sounds too good to be true, but if it is that'd be one hell score for the festival organisers and a music fans dream.

    Why would you think that???

In the past they have had Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Van Morrison, R.E.M., Bob Dylan, Trey Anastasio, Pixies, not exactlly chopped liver or cheap.

The ACL fest is also put on by the same promoters who do Lolla and also had the Rolling Stones play at the same location that the ACL fest is held.

  • For all those who know the ACL Fest rumor mill, this happens every year.....

A lot of guessing and rumors, many (like last year) never come true, however some people do guess right.

As the dates get closer, more accurate info will surface. As of now I'd take everything with a BIG grain of salt!

all those bands in the same year? rhetorical question.

Though that lineup sounds amazing, it would be hard for me to see R.E.M. headlining both SXSW and ACL.

I think there's a good chance either Radiohead or Pearl Jam will headline, but realistically I don't see both.

I live in Austin. My brother is getting married that weekend in Dallas. He choose that weekend because it's a bye week for the Longhorns. It's just bad luck it also happens to be ACL.

The only day I'll be able to go to ACL is on sunday. If PJ were to play fri or sat night I would cry....literally.

I'm praying they headline the show and play sunday night. I missed them in '95 so this would be beautiful.

  • the lineup is announced later, but they usually do some wierd game online for the guesses. last year was a crossword puzzle. if i see any 8 letters in a box and any letters from pearl jam in them , then i will have a fucking seizure fit.

however, i'm not counting on it.

but either way, i'm getting my wristbands again, because acl fest is always awesome. and i just wanna go and say that Muse was fucking brilliant!!

and pj. 95. southpark meadows..... one of the best days of my entire life. if only i could relive that day at acl fest....

    I don't believe such a line-up.

but I would LOVE for it to be true, if only because that'd mean PJ playing on my actual Birthday :D
might even get my mum to pay for my trip ;) (well, contribute :p)

Maybe they can use all of that extra money from the White Stripes backing out last year without replacing them with an artist of similar popularity.

Sorry, still a little bitter. But I did get to see all of a kickass Arcade Fire show instead.

PJ and RH are my two favorite bands, so that lineup would make my head explode.

I was also pretty bitter about the Stripes backing out last year, until I found out that they were filling the spot with a band that has about 100 times more talent than the Stripes: Muse! You're spot on justjoshingu, they were fucking brilliant.

As for the PJ rumors, they happen every year, and it hasn't happened yet, so I'm not holding my breath. Either way, I'll probably end up going down to ACL anyway...

Who cares what the studio that they tape the show at looks like?? I have been lucky enough to see Phish, Ratdog (Bob Weir/Grateful Dead), Ray Davies (The Kinks), Robert Plant and Kings of Leon at ACL tapings there. The place holds 450 people, they let 20 people in at a time on the elevator, when the elevator opens you walk down a long hallway with big pictures on the wall of Tom Waits, Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash, Bonnie Raitt, Roy Orbison, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Ray Charles, etc.

They also have free beer, only about 6 kegs and when it's gone it's gone, while the backround is kind of cheesey, there is SOOOOO much history in that little studio. What sucks is they are going to move to a new studio in 2009 or 2010 that is going to hold about 2,000 and it's going to lose its appeal like everything else that is good in the world. I have seen tons of concerts (300-400) in my life and feel very lucky to have seen the few tapings I have seen there.
