Inspired by this thread… I put Backspacer on in the car while driving my 14 year old daughter to basketball practice tonight.  When The Fixer came on the following conversation was had:

Her: Oooh… I like this song.
Me: Really? (She has never said she liked a PJ song despite hearing them hundreds of times)
    Her: Yeah… it’s good.
Me: You should add it to your playlist.
Her: Well… I don’t like it that much.  I meant it was good for your music.
    Me:

    True story.

that's funny...I had a similar conversation with my daughter (23) about the album. She loves the Fixer....I've always despised it but I do like the demo version. I think the song that is on the record is drastically different than Matt intended.

Imagine these lyrics with Ed singing...full band, etc. Totally different vibe. I love it.

But this is what I love about this band, I loathe Johnny Guitar but another person would go see any show anywhere to hear it. I'll stand by so many songs from the new album and I'll agree to disagree with people on other albums knowing no one is right, except that we like what we like. This band has a wide berth.

And this version from the PJ20 soundtrack is indeed great.

I also thought we'd be cursed to hear The Fixer and Just Breathe every show forever and how wrong was I? And I heard Just Breathe in Chicago and it was nice to hear again. I think that's the beauty of loving a band with such a history.

How can a demo by a member of a huge rockband in 2007 sound so, "cassette tape recording something a room away in 1970"

    But yeah, I prefer this

I considered changing my username to OneManStandsAlone a while back. Instead I think I'll save it for the title of my memoir.
