My guess is compression and delay, with either volume swells or an E-Bow...
At least, that's how I copy them... ...and if you don't like it, you can suck on an egg.0 ...and if you don't like it, you can suck on an egg.0

He plays with an actual bow, simply just drives the cabinet with the head, very basic set up. The have some live video on their site you might check out. Sings through his p/u's also. You men eat your dinner

Yeah, he uses a cello bow - which is longer. Additionally he has special pickups that are extra sensitive. Live (I have see them twice) he actually sings through his pickups.
He probably no doubt uses delay. And if hope could grow from dirt like me, it can be done0

yeah, i can hear delay on their second album
i read somewhere when you use a bow on a guitar you can really only use it on the top and bottom string, is that true? he seems to get a lot of range from just 2 stringsstandin above the crowd

It's hard to isolate just one string in the middle of the guitar, like the D or G strings, with a bow. So, if you only want one string at a time, you can really only bow the high and low E strings by themselves... unless you get a really curved bridge (which would most likely have to be custom).
You can bow chords, or groups of strings....
The other option is to mute strings you don't want to bow with your fretting hand. You'll still bow them, but if you mute them they won't vibrate....and if you don't like it, you can suck on an egg.0
