You ve never played before and bought a $2000 guitar online to learn on?  I mean you should definitely go to a guitar store and pick up a guitar that feels right to you.

Look up Marty Music or Let’s Play All on YouTube! Good luck going down that rabbit hole! If guitar doesn’t work out for you, you can always sell it to me!

Congrats!   Stratocaster is a good guitar to start on.  I think the setup should work well for you. If it inspires you to play, it is worth every penny.

If there is a discount for the Fender app, i would recommend at least trying the trial.  The lessons are good for beginners.

Amp and suggestions for amps will make your head spin.   then the pedal rabbit hole awaits…. keep it simple and focus on playing.  Fender has a micro mustang that is for headphone use and sims a variety of amps.  Spark mini is another option I’m looking at.

Regardless of the Mike aspect, it’s a retro 1960 Fender Stratocaster. Tone is just so beautiful in a tube amp.

Got a feeling I'm going to win one in the drawing on the 18th. Everyone was too focused on the tour dates so this one is going to slither its way to me. I can feel it! Hahahaha

  • So...are the scrapes/dings/dents actually scrapes/dings/dents on these replicas OR are they painted on and the guitar feels smooth?

    I hope that makes sense.

I’m split on these. I just don’t think the faux road worn look is for me. I might go for a Kim Thayil Guild instead.

I think most of it is done via template stickers they put on before spraying, and even between finish layers. Then they peel the stickers off to leave the wear pattern. Then they go back and ding/scratch it up a bit.

Here are pics of mine that shows what I mean… you can see the largest areas that I think were covered with a template sticker pre-finish. Then the edge where they clearly dragged it across something, getting into the wood. And then very small spots where they likely banged and scratched it with something post-finish.

Oh no. Why did you have to tell me this. The signature Guild looks amazing. Another added to the guitar want list.

That’s cool! Someone on The Gear Page last week said he had seen Mike playing the new ones live already, but I had not seen confirmation. That will probably help sell a few more!

My Fender Strat finally arrived and when I took it out of the case a little black spring popped out from somewhere and fell on the floor. It not obviously missing from the guitar but I have a feeling it was inside the tremolo bar attachment hole. Does anyone know what this is or how I correctly put it back in?
