Transfering from recording device to computer?

I recently invested in a minidisc player to record some shows, probably not pearl jam, since they have official boots, but other bands. So I had two questions, one is, should i just buy a cord with a headphone jack on both sides, so i can plug one in to the minidisc player and the other into the mic jack on the computer? The other question is, can anyone tell me a program i can use to record on my computer? Thanks.

    If your MD player doesn't have any other output features than what you would want is the headphone jack on 2 ends....referred to as a stereo male to male 1/8" cable....

    Plug it into your input on your soundcard if that's available, if not the microphone should work.

    Some decent and easy programs to use on the computer would be:

    Cool Edit
    Sound Forge

    those are 2 I find the easiest for simple editing, EQ'ing, volume boosting, and minimal effects.

    That should definately get the job done.

    Don't forget in your Volume Control .... go to Properties and configure what your computer does for Recording not just Playback....you may have options for "What You Hear" "Line In" "Aux" "Microphone" etc....
