is there a way to find out where an email (from a hotmail account) came from specifically?

    a general no.
    well you can find out there IP address and track down their ISP, trick them into handing outthe person's personal information, and then supeona them to come to court for stealing music... wait you're not the RIAA

    and even that shouldnt work from a free email address, because you are recieving information from the hotmail servers and not that one person directly.
