I interviewed Pearl Jam guitarist Stone Gossard less than four months after the band released it's multiplatinum debut album, Ten. He called me up from Dallas where the band was opening for the Red Hot Chili Peppers, but I had been told the interview was with Eddie Vedder. When you're expecting to talk to the singer-lyricist and another member calls, it throws you for a bit of a loop. This isn't my finest moment as a rock journalist, but hey, what can you do?
