While at San Diego Comic-Con this year, McFarlane stopped by Screen Rant's media suite and exclusively announced that Pearl Jam would be releasing behind-the-scenes art from "Do the Evolution," as well as a remastered music video. Given that the song is arguably one of the band's greatest artistic achievements, and McFarlane's video captures its essence so well, fans are sure to cherish any additional insight into the creative process. Pearl Jam recently shared a previously unreleased video of them performing the song during their Give Way performance in Melbourne, proving that the celebrations really are year-round.

    Looks interesting. For me, this song/video will always be the single greatest thing Pearl Jam has ever done. So any more insight into it will be cool. I loved the “Art of…” book from a year or two ago.

    I use YouTube premium (really, just so I can minimize the app and still listen) but I don't like that they just upped the price. It's like $18 a month now. But it does have like every song ever made on-demand so I can't complain too much.

    For the longest time, the thumbnail was the girl in the video kissing a skull. 

    I’m not sure if the previously uploaded version was widescreen like this.

    It was in 16:9 widescreen before now. When they announced the uprezzed version I went to the band's youtube to check out the existing DTE video and it was in widescreen. It would be nice to know what exactly "newly uprezzed" means as an HD version has been available for quite some time.

    Was it widescreen, or pillarboxed? 

    If the last version was in "HD" it was just scaled up to that pixel size. On this version they must have used Topaz or a similar dedicated software to uprez it. Looking smudgy and sharpened would be a sign of that. 

    Like e.g. Oasis Wonderwall "HD" version. 

    Might look better on animation than live action.

    @Santos L. Halper correct that to "Blu-Ray". And I think it is just Blu-ray or Blu-ray disc. "Blueray DVD" is not a format.

    Original video, upscaled to HD. Looks to be straight off a tape (master or duplicate) if your notice the tape artefact at right edge of the frame and the "video noise"  (or is it grain from the phootgraphing...)


    The official upprezzed version. Looks very smudgy (as excepted by the slew of bad HD uprezed stuff out there), the shimmer is still there and the background has been heavily distorted/pixelated.

    Yeah the top version definitely looks better from those pictures above. Though when I watched it on my television last night, I thought it looked fine. That said, I was hoping that this was going to make this already perfect music video look even better, and it doesn't.

    Notice here too, detail is gone. And notice the color-artifacts that plauge the whole video. Here very noticable on the wings. But the lowrez staircase-stepping is still as present as before.
