I was in Maui this past March to visit my brother-in-law. Spent a day at Haleakala National Park. Was in the islands 10 years ago was well. Spent several days at Volcanos NP. Beautiful place.

Heading to Rocky Mountain NP at the end of August. Will be the 20th NP I’ve visited.

Jerparker20 Make sure you have reservations to enter RMNP if not going pre 8 am,  they are making you get reservations at RMNP and Arches now.  If taking a shuttle or travel bus I dont think you have to,, but if driving.must have a reservation or they send you out.

In the USA, when a student is in 4th grade, they are eligible to get a pass allowing free entry for a car of people to any National Park.  We took a 10 state 7 park trip this summer.  Show off your favorite parks, where are they? We have such beauty around us and we do not always know or take advantage of it.

    We hit:
    Badlands NP South Dakota
    Yellowstone NP Wyoming
    Grand Tetons NP Wyoming
    Arches NP. Utah
    Canyonlands NP Utah
Black Canyon of the Gunnison NP Colorado
    Rocky Mountain NP, Colorado

All were amazing, I especially loked Black Canyon, I guess the inner Tolkien in me or something

Here is a pic of Delicate Arch in Arches NP

    GRAND prismatic in Yellowstone

    Black Canyon of the Gunnison

    Grand Tetons

    BADLANDS

I love Arches.  That love was sparked a long time ago when I started reading Edward Abbey's books. I was fortunate to go there early on when tucking my vehicle around a corner and spending the night was not an issue.  Each time I went back it became more and more crowded to the point where if I ever go back it would have to be a wintry mid-week visit.  But in any case, I really treasure the memories of that amazing place.

Badlands is another great pick!  We camped out in BLM land nearby about ten years ago and really enjoyed exploring that mystical land!

Death Valley is another favorite.  I've never braved the valley during insane heat waves like the recent one, generally preferring late winter/early spring season.  We camped out on a ridge in the southern end of the park one year and saw the strangest thing- it was night and very dark and suddenly we saw a row of light descending a cliff in the distance maybe a 1/4 to 1/2 mile away.  My guess it it was probably military doing night rappelling training just outside the park.  It was spooky!

I cannot imagine Arches without the timed entry.  It was already crowded as heck with it, I can only imagine how bad it would have been prior to this year.  Yellowstone was so crowded in places we had to skip them all together.  We didn't even try to get to ground level at grand prismatic

I love Mesa Verde. The cliff dwellings are incredible.

Totally agree! Was very impressed by the park and it over delivered on my enjoyment. $5 a tour for these dwellings felt like a steal!

I don't know how I missed this thread last year. I started a NP thread a few years back and it seemed to garner little interest. National Parks are among my favorite things! 23 down and 2 new ones in September! I will return to this thread soon...

Wow! So jealous. I hiked the Narrows two summers ago. Bucket list activity. It was stunning. I hiked to the start of the Angle’s Landing hike where you need the permit, but alas did not have one. Amazing park.
