Chicago 2 Seating Opinion (Floor vs. Side Stage)

Mr. FixerMr. Fixer Posts: 592
I currently have Chicago 2 Tickets (9/7) in Floor 3, Row 17 and another pair in Section 114, Row 19 (side of stage).  I bought the Floor Tickets via the Fan Club and 114 via Fan 2 Fan.  I have never been that far back on the Floor and non-elevated.  Has anyone ever been that far back?  If so, how is the view that far back on the Floor?  I am not sure which pair to keep.  Any advice?  One of the pairs will go on Fan 2 Fan and I will make sure to notifiy the group before they do.  Thanks in advance for your advice!

As a tall person I prefer floor over sides, partly due to seeing the full band/stage setup and feeling like the music's directed towards me. Doesn't matter if I'm in the back of the floor, which is generally where you'll be located.

But if you want to be closer and not 6'+ tall, side stage might be the way to go.

Floor seats are terrible in my opinion. Screen watching the whole time..

With the limited stage crap, I'm hoping the side view is going to be good.

    For me it's:

    1) GA Floor
    2) Side Stage
    3) First Couple Sections in the Wings

    and so forth.

The further back you are on the floor the lower the viewing angle with the stage and it gets harder and harder to see.  I'm 6'2 and generally I'd prefer not to be on the floor when it's more than 20 rows (maybe 25 max).   Since the GA floor takes up that space, I'm not sure I'd want to be on the floor unless I was in the 1st or 2nd row of the seated section.

Side Stage tickets are always my favourite non close up front floor tickets.   You're pretty close to the stage, get a pretty good view, and the seats go upwards so rarely problems having your view blocked.  I feel like many people underrate side stage tickets :)
  • Side stage is where it's at

    I'd go side stage

    Here's 114 row 19:

Floor 3 Row 19 is tougher to find, as there are so many different Floor configurations.  My guess is this is the closest to your seats, and without most of the people there yet

This right here. Reserved floor behind GA have some of the worst sight lines in the building. I’d rather be farther back and be able to see the stage. I’m 5’9” and was 3rd row behind GA for Baltimore 2013. Spent most of the night watching the screens. The rest was on my toes trying to catch a glimpse of a band member’s head through the heads and shoulders in front of me.

I'm 6'5" but would still go with 114. Since Row 17 on the floor is behind the pit you're really like row 30-40. That's pretty far.

    I'd go floor

I would go with the side stage.  Even being 6'3" it wasn't great being on the floor.  I prefer the slope of the bowls.

Depends on your preference, but I prefer side stage. You’re very close to the stage and it’s a really cool perspective to see the show from. It’s also awesome to see Mike soloing from that close up.
