Vice files for bankruptcy. MTV News is pulling the plug.
More and more news outlets are trimming down on investigative reporting. People would rather get their news from twitter than a trusted source.
Soon it will all be owned and ran by the big corporations.
This has been happening for years but I am hoping for independent media to still have a foothold.
Thoughts?

Why would the average consumer pay extra to subscribe to a relatively respectable outlet like the Washington Post or Wall Street Journal when you can get the 'feel good' [bias confirming] news you want to be told for free? (free being a relative term here... most people are already paying for cable or some other TV subscription service)

Vice news was great also.
What independent news/journalism outlets are left? The Nation, Rolling Stone? I don't know of any ones that aren't left leaning?
