I’ve lived in Evanston for 14 years but have never sought out his elementary school or birthing room. Check out the B’hai Temple, lakefront, campus, but this is not the place to stalk EV’s haunts. I believe he moved to SD before age 10.

I’ve lived in Evanston virtually my whole life and studied every Ed quote about growing up I’ve come across. I still haven’t been able to nail down any local sites related to him. The best I’ve got is him talking before Comfortably Numb at 2016 Wrigley N1 about watching the stars from the rocks along the lake on the Northwestern campus (he couldn’t remember the name of the university). There are a lot of rocks on campus along the lake so that isn’t a specific location, but I have also watched the stars from those rocks so it was a relatable story.
Evanston has some character so if you want to visit just to say you visited there are things to do here (NU campus, lighthouse, beaches, architecture, microbreweries, restaurants, coffee shops, etc). Of course there is more than enough to do in Chicago.
A little digging and you can find the place he lived… however the Peckish Pig is not to be missed. Try the chorizo stuffed, bacon wrapped dates…. Or Mac n cheese with duck confit and an egg on top
