    U.S. District Judge Tanya S. Chutkan has scheduled Donald Trump’s D.C. trial on charges of attempting to overturn the 2020 presidential election for March 4, 2024. A separate hearing was being held in Atlanta Monday morning to determine whether Trump’s former chief of staff, Mark Meadows, can move his election-related indictment from state to federal court. Trump is a frontrunner in the Republican 2024 presidential contest, and the D.C. trial’s starting date is the day before the Super Tuesday primaries.

    Agreed...Biden's duties are more related to having the right people in place then him doing any heavy lifting.

    Fact check: Trump falsely claims he ‘never’ faced an impeachment inquiry

    Former President Donald Trump falsely claimed Monday that he “never” faced an impeachment inquiry.

    Trump made the claim in a social media post the day after House Speaker Kevin McCarthy said in a television interview that launching an impeachment inquiry into President Joe Biden is a “natural step forward” from current Republican efforts to gather information on the business dealings of the president’s family.

    Trump posted on Sunday that Republicans should swiftly impeach Biden without first holding an inquiry, which is not a mandatory precursor to an impeachment vote. (CNN reported Monday that some members of McCarthy’s caucus remain skeptical of impeachment, with one lawmaker noting that they have not found evidence of Biden abusing his office for family profit.) Then Trump posted on Monday: “I NEVER HAD AN IMPEACHMENT INQUIRY, I HAD AN IMPEACHMENT, WHICH I WON! IT WAS STARTED IMMEDIATELY, NO MEETINGS, NO STUDY, NO DELAYS.”

    Facts First: Trump’s claim that he “never” faced an impeachment inquiry is incorrect. Before the Democratic-led House impeached Trump for the first time, over his 2019 efforts to use the power of the presidency to pressure the president of Ukraine to investigate Biden, the House held an impeachment inquiry that lasted more than two months.

    The inquiry was announced by then-Speaker Nancy Pelosi on September 24, 2019. As part of the inquiry, House committees held closed-door hearings and then high-profile public hearings to hear testimony from witnesses. On December 3, 2019, Democrats released a 300-page report that summarized the inquiry’s findings; it was titled “The Trump-Ukraine Impeachment Inquiry Report.” Trump was impeached by the House on December 18, 2019, 85 days after Pelosi announced the inquiry.

    Trump would have been correct if he had made a more limited claim that Democrats did not conduct an official inquiry prior to impeaching him a second time, in the final days of his presidency in early 2021, over what the House concluded was his incitement of the January 6, 2021, insurrection at the US Capitol. That impeachment, which the House voted on just seven days after the riot, centered on his public statements and actions that were publicly known at the time.

    The Senate acquitted Trump after both impeachments.

    I feel like the tides would turn quickly against tRump if a few current House or Senate GOP would be vocal against him. A simple "I supported him while he was in office but it's time to let someone else take over" type of rhetoric.

    I don't think they can at all. Something like 60 or 70% of Republicans are more Trump-fans than supporters of the party.  They will listen to anything Trump says and will turn harshly on anyone who opposed the Orange man-baby.  

    I'm sure they are all secretly hoping that the judicial system or nature/cardiac system takes its course and they can continue to harness that energized base.  

    They just keep trying to wait this out, but the cancer on their party has metastasized. He is not going to hand his supporters over to desantis, ramamamamaswammy, or whoever.  He is going to keep them, and I would guess that his kids will carry the torch when all the fast food and being sedentary has its way with him 

    At some point the party is going to have to split.

    Trump Inflated Property Values by Up to $2.2 Billion, New York A.G. Says

    Letitia James, the attorney general, asked a judge to find, without a trial, that the former president had fraudulently overvalued his assets.

    Before Donald J. Trump was indicted four times over, he was sued by New York’s attorney general, who said that for years the former president, his business and members of his family had fraudulently overvalued their assets by billions of dollars.

    Before any of those criminal trials will take place, Mr. Trump is scheduled for a civil trial in New York in October. During the trial, the attorney general, Letitia James, will seek to bar him and three of his children from leading their family business, the Trump Organization, and to require him to pay a fine of around $250 million.

    On Wednesday, Ms. James fired an opening salvo, arguing that a trial is not necessary to find that Mr. Trump and the other defendants inflated the value of their assets in annual financial statements, fraudulently obtaining favorable loans and insurance arrangements.

    The fraud was so pervasive, she said in a court filing, that Mr. Trump had falsely boosted his net worth by between $812 million and $2.2 billion each year over the course of a decade.
