every fucking year the GOP goes on and on about saying "Merry Christmas" again even though everyone says it all the fucking time. It's so fucking stupid I can't stand it.

I'm still surprised magats gave Melania a break.
Why wouldn’t they? She’s white and they’ve seen her nekked.
i'm surprised they didn't think less of her for not wanting to deal with the "fahking creasemoose decorations" again that one year.
my god can you imagine how the magats would have reacted to Jill Biden or Michelle Obama going that route?
I didn’t remember that quote, so I just looked it up.
She said “"I'm working ... my a** off on the Christmas stuff, that you know, who gives a f*** about the Christmas stuff and decorations? But I need to do it, right?"

And she’s kinda right. I can’t recall any time I’ve ever paid attention to the White House Christmas decor. Who really cares? The only Christmas related thing I can think of was that really weird video the Bidens released a couple years ago, and people only talked about it because it was bad. No good publicity comes from Christmas at the White House.

But I agree, definitely a bad look to get caught saying that, even if it’s true.
how'd i know you would be the one to leap in to defend what she said?

the republicans have a monopoly on christmas. everything is always a war on christmas. the first lady shits all over christmas decorations and says how she really feels and you miss the irony. if this had been jill biden, hillary clinton, or michelle obama the gop would have lost their collective shit.
It is a big task. She has to single-handedly pick out the company that the White House is going to hire to hang the decor.

I don't think anyone can quite grasp the stress of that role.  Sometimes there are 3 or 4 options even.  With a staff of only 20 or so, how can one be expected to do that?  Makes no sense.

And don’t forget the different rooms of the White House, all with their one tree, sometimes two or more, with separate themes and color schemes, plus what to do with and where to place the White House’s chef’s gingerbread house. It’s not like it’s one and done with the private residence and that’s it. By the time you get upstairs and have to figure out what to do with the golf simulator, you’d be a stark raving lunatic too. Waaaaaaaay too much pressure.

Drat. I thought she was Russian.

As for the "Who gives a fook about christmas?" stuff, I thought it was kinda funny. I certainly didn't care about it directly, but I could not help but think that MAGA would still be talking about it had Michelle said something like that."

I completely agree if it was Michelle who said that, it would have been a big deal.
I remember people posting unflattering pictures of Michelle with captions that the First Lady is supposed to be classy. And worse. So I’m sure she would have gotten crap for not caring about Christmas decorations.

But It’s not a big deal, I’m sure every one of us has said something privately to a close friend that was much worse and would be mortified if it were secretly recorded and released.
Public opinion is she doesn’t want the First Lady gig. When she married Donald she didn’t think she’d have to work for the money (outside the bedroom).
What that statement does do is give credibility to the belief she never wanted to be there in the first place.
She didn’t show the the RNC yet has she? I find that really strange, even someone slightly pretending to care would show up.

By the way, have you noticed how nobody says "Merry Christmas anymore?" I bet that's gonna change if Trump gets elected again baby!!! Woo!

I told a priest Merry Christmas when Obama was president and he gave me the finger.  It all changed in 2016.  Then America was great.

His problem has always been when he tries to sound normal, it sounds like he is on quaaludes and/or about to fall asleep.

Him reading off the teleprompter about his first hand account of what happened last week was weird too. Felt like he was reading it for the first time.
