Why hasn't PJ done the Mexico destination thing like so many other bands?

My other favorite band is the Grateful Dead.  I just recently came home from Playing In The Sand - Dead & Company's Cancun, Mexico destination concert event.  It was the most fun I've ever had.  4 nights of music on the beach along with day time poolside concerts, spontaneous jam sessions, amazing community vibes, etc.  Yes, it was very expensive but worth every penny.  I can see why all of these events sell out - Dave Matthews and Tim Reynolds, Luke Bryan, Phish, Widespread Panic, D&C, etc.  While I was there, I couldn't help but daydream about Pearl Jam hosting such an event.  They have the traveling fan base to sell it out no problem.  So why hasn't PJ embraced the destination concert vacation?  Could this be the year?

The bands all stay offsite with their families.  Seems perfect - they can all head to Mexico for a week, hang with their families all day at the pool and play a few shows at night.  What could be better?

    Maybe someday it'll happen.

The last time I got to see Pearl Jam play 4 nights @ the same venue was Philly '09.
    It was an amazing week.

My brother and his wife have done Dead and Company twice including this year and they say how incredible it is.  It would be expensive as hell but I’d do it at least once for PJ.

I did MMJ’s a few years ago and it was amazing. The demand for something like that would be insane for PJ.
This show, another show, a show here and a show there.

Dave Matthews Band will be playing there in 2023 (separate shows from Dave and Tim).

Personally I would rather them do a Vegas residency.

An amazing couple of days. Loved every second.
  • I’ve done Ohana and while it was a ton of fun and I enjoyed it, it didn’t compare to me to Cancun.  You have to factor in the all inclusive aspect.  Beers and liquor dispensers in the room, bars and food everywhere, room service, etc all included in the price.  Wake up at whatever hour, grab a bloody and get the day started again.  It was definitely a marathon and my ass was kicked by the end.  The PJ crowd would be great and so fun.

  • Does’t sound rock. Sounds like where rockbands go to die.

This doesn't really sound like something Pearl Jam would do?  They don't do cruises either?  I mean their getting older and the continually evolve/change, but it really seem like something this band wouldn't do?

I'm so shocked they haven't been back to Red Rocks, since 1995!

    Cause it’s cheesy as hell
  • To each their own, but I went to the Phish Mexico shows in 2022 and it was an incredible experience. You think seeing your favorite band no a gorgeous beach next to the ocean would be cheesy? Trust me, it is not. It's fucking amazing.

That said, I don't think PJ would ever do this. It's a pretty bougie experience, which is to say it costs a fortune and most could not do it, and it feels to me like they wouldn't be into that.
