    Great clips :D
How to mic an amp . . .
Most studios just use a simple SM57 or similar MIC pressed right up on the grill, usually slightly off axis of the best sounding speaker.
Some studios also place a mic behind an open back cab, and some also place another one mic in the middle of the room for proximity.
This way you can get 3 different sounds.
But again, most of the time studios use 1-MIC up against the amps grill, just off axis of the best sounding speaker.
    Cheers . . .

thanks. i used to have SM57s and could never get anything i was happy with. perhaps that method has a much smaller margin of error. i find the condensers pretty forgiving but i still have a lot of trouble, especially with distortion sounds.

i'm going to do some more today with a strat so maybe i'll play with the mics too.
