Pearl Jam's most underrated song is... *drumroll*

...Army Reserve. I don't know why it's not at the top of more people's list of favorites. I don't know why it's not discussed more often as a PJ classic.

Rarely have I heard Eddie sing with such power and passion. When he kicks into the "I'm not blind / I can see it coming.." part of the song I literally get goosebumps.

Cheers to you, Army Reserve.

How long must she stand
Before the ground, it gives way
To an endless fall
She can feel this
War on her face
Stars on her pillow
Folding in darkness
Begging for slumber

I'm not blind
I can see it coming
Looks like lightning
In my child's eye

I'm not frantic
I can feel it coming
Violently shakes
My body

Her son's slanted
Always giving her
The sideways eye
An empty chair where dad sits
How loud can silence get?
And mom, she reassures
To contain him
But it's becoming a lie

She tells herself
And everyone else
Father is risking
His life for our freedoms

I'm not blind
I can see it coming
Looks like lightning
In my childs eye

I'm not frantic
I can feel it coming
Darling you'll save me
If you save yourself
Everything has chains...Absolutely nothing's changed. - PJ

I definitely hear you on Down. However, it gets more love than Army Reserve does, so it can't be their most underrated. :p

Yes, that game was fun, memories! Been thinking of putting together a similar kind of thing, but with all the songs thrown in against each other. Would be a long game though...

By the way, I thought the album booklet listed Ament as a co-writter but yet pj.com only has Ed and Echoes?

i'm on board. jeff's songs in general are underrated. he often has some of the more interesting tunes on each album.
    and like that... he's gone.

It's a mistake on pj.com. Jeff definately wrote the music, I remember him talking about it in an interview.

yeah look in the liner notes.

jeff wrote the music and ed and damien echols collaborated on the lyrics.
jeff's only contribution to self titled besides big wave.

To be fair, only one of those songs made it on to an album.

One of my LEAST favorite songs in the PJ catalogue! NEVER have been able to get my head around this song. Might be one of the ONLY tracks I skip, or just simply dont pay attention. :(

Agree - Army Reserve is amazing - I was at the Astoria gig where they played it live for the first time! I remember listening to the bass line and was like 'shit this song is awesome'! when the album came out it was on repeat for days!
