3 shows in a row.. thoughts?

First, when is the last time they played 3 nights in a row? Even in 06 they took a night off during the 3 show run in SF.

I really hope Nashville and STL don’t suffer. We have held these tickets for too long for a money grab festival ruin it. Maybe a low key but some gems in Nashville? 16 song set in LOU with the easy festival staples (small town, bman, daughter, black). Then see what Ed has left and rock out in STL if possible??

Didn’t Eddie play like 6 straight nights at ohana last year with the pj + earthlings + solo private gigs?
This show, another show, a show here and a show there.

4 nights (earthlings did a private gig, short replacement set for Kings of Leon, headlining set before pj headlined the last night).

after being one of the unfortunate who didn’t get a Vegas show, hedged my bets on Nashville vs St Louis in the event it happened again.

but to be honest, I think they’ve learned a few things with the spring and Euro tour issues - the fall tour dates starting with acoustic sets should ease up EV’s voice and the band’s energy, and the fest will get a greatest hits set and Nash/StL will be just fine.
  • I'm saying full band. I don't think it's all on Ed. There are others 3 nights in a row can take a toll on. They've clearly not done it in a long, long time for a reason.

    They'll be fine

24 Songs in Nashville and STL
    20 Songs in Louisville

Thats only 68 songs over 3 nights.  They were fine doing back to back nights with 30+ a night.  With the seated starts and shorter setlists, I wouldn't be worried at all about a 3 night run.

As someone going to Nashville and St. Louis, I've pondered this also.  At the end of the day, it can't be viewed as a positive in my opinion.  Ditch the festival and this isn't even a topic to discuss.  It likely means that either STL will suffer because they're all physically and vocally spent, OR, it is one of the gems of the tour because they do a unique, acoustic, slower type set.  Hopefully the latter...get goofy in St. Louis PJ!

Hopefully it means Nashville and St Louis have creative sets and Louisville is the greatest hits show.   Going to Nashville and Louisville.

Such a good time to be a touring fan. I was at DC. and E. Rutherford, plus Camden that year. I didn’t make it to Irving Plaza (how did one even get in?) but met those who did the day after and were just in awe. Good times. 06 was a great tour.

  • Well they played the same first three songs at both E Rutherford shows that year so there must have been some lingering effects.

I am looking at is kind of one long show personally, so whatever I get will all go together and I think make for an awesome weekend. I have seen them 3 times in 4 days, but this will be a new one for me and I can't wait. Wouldn't mind getting Mankind if Ed needs a break.

People waited in line at Tower Records and Ten Club had tickets for people who lived in NYC proper. The latter is how I got mine. I think it was a lottery. I don't remember exactly.

I fear the STL show ends up being the show that suffers here. I think Nashville is the diamond in the rough out of this trio of shows. It's a friday night in Nashville....I mean, who wouldn't be in a great mood for a night of music. Louisville will get an energetic hits show. That Bourbon and Beyond lineup is littered with friends of the band and you know Ed is going to want to put his best foot forward in front of his pals. At least enough to show Greta Van Fleet how it's done. St. Louis on a sunday night just has the makings of a very mellow show. You know what the Deadheads say though - never miss a sunday show.

I am going to Nashville and St. Louis.  These were my thoughts too when Louisville was announced.  I jokingly said Ed's voice would be done about half way through the St. Louis show.  Hopefully all will be good!

I’m going to Louisville and B&B. Just worked out that way, I had tickets held over from 2020 for STL. All due to timing and logistics, I’d have much rather gone to Nashville like most ppl. I have the same concerns but nothing we can do about it. If anything this thread made me feel better about STL being a weirder, more mellow show. I’ll be at least somewhat spent from a long day in the sun. I want that acoustic set and some deep cuts, it may be out of necessity on this one. I just hope we get all of our shows.

So 22 years!  I knew it had been a long time since they performed 3 shows in 3 days.  I think they did 72 US shows that year.  The first year of the "Official Bootlegs."  I know I bought a bunch of them from Best Buy that year.
