Awesome PJ Finds at the Record Store Today

Hadn't been to my record store in months, so I decided to drop by today and see if they had anything good.

Started in the used CD section and found two 2000 boots: West Palm Beach and Manchester. It's always fun finding old 2000 official boots at stores. They cost me $5 apiece.

Then headed over to the vinyl, just in case. Looked under Pearl Jam and there was nothing aside from a Ten European re-issue. Was about to check out when something caught my eye in the Soundtracks section. It was none other than Into the Wild on vinyl!

I already own a copy, but what the hell, for $30 I wasn't going to let it sit there.

Quite a nice day today. Now I'm hoping my mystery poster arrives, because today seems to be my lucky day.

  • That's awesome. The only place we have here is Bestbuy. And they suck ass. They never have anything. One time I remember asking the sales associate to locate a dvd that their computer said was in stock and he went into the stock room and never came out.

Fuck Best Buy, Wal-Mart, Target, and all the other "big" music stores. The only music stores that are worth going to are independent stores. I go to Rhino Records all the time, and Rasputin and Amoeba are both pretty good.

I've learned over the years that if a music store doesn't have a used section or doesn't sell vinyl, it's not worth visiting.

All of the good record stores have gone under in L.A. Aaron's, as well as Rhino Records, seem to have been put out of business by Amoeba. Tower records on Sunset was a great place. I used to live up the hill from there, so if I ever wanted to clear my head, I could just go there and browse.

Rhino Records in Claremont is still alive and kicking. Great little record store, and they host quite a bit of in-store gigs as well.

You're right though, seems like a ton of indie music stores have gone under recently. :(

The little record shop next to the Glasshouse had some cool stuff when I went there.

I agree with you; I used to visit a used record store where I grew up and there was actually a clerk there like the Jack Black character in High Fidelity who would criticize my taste in music. I was a funny-looking kid with purple hair; I didn't know what to make of him; he shaped my musical inclinations for years to come.

Last time I went into Best Buy I'd never heard of their "Artist of the Week" or whatever...

Might be a nice addition to your "poster" collection. Should be able to see the picture first though.

Independent stores are the best! I posted this on another thread, but I was in an indie store last week and they still had two Avacado vinyls sealed.

But that's really cool about the two boots you found. Anytime I see a used 2000 boot in a store they usually have at least a $20 pricetag. Which is still way better than what some of these fuckers on ebay and amazon are asking. Either way...for $5 each you did quite well
I am lost, I'm no guide. But I'm by your side...

  • Independent Record Stores are one of the slowly dying treasures in this country... I just moved to Columbus (OH) a couple of weeks ago and have been dying to find time to go out and see what the big town (I'm from a truly *small town*) has to offer...

Congrats on your find, may you enjoy them...
