I guess it'll sell for $700 US. My buddy's 1948 Martin 00-15 cost about $800 two years ago.

Pre war D35's can go for as much as 50 grand.
My Girlfriend said to me..."How many guitars do you need?" and I replied...."How many pairs of shoes do you need?" She got really quiet.
  • We were at Mandolin Brothers in Staten Island last summer. 2 of us played the Oscar Meyer Weiner song on two $45000 prewar Martins. The owner was like," hmm $90000 for a hot dog song?
He did however say that it was the best version he ever heard!

  • That,,,,is what I'd love to be.

We were playing that song for a fringe festival play in NYC so we had it rehearsed, and we just picked up the most expensive guitars in the place , looked at each other, played it, then put them back.

  • To tell you the truth I like my Taylors better to play, but the old martins just sound so great. just the vibe of playing something that so many other hands have played is cool too.

    Yeah, but that's a late-50's 00-17. A prewar 0-17 would be a $3000 guitar.

Those guitars are so dark... 40-60 years on a mahogany body will do strange things...

So long as it didn't suffer huge temperature and humidity changes, they would be mostly good things... Still, you've never heard a darker guitar than a vintage mahogany Martin parlor guitar.
