  • Damn,
Dude, I was going to buy it for you but it's in Canada. That's a shame!
I'll just go to up to the vault and get out my old 57 goldtop and send it to you, I realize it's older and not the same color, but it's the best I can do! Oh and it's right handed.

but i prefer the worn out one.
  • First one is nicer, If it's been played more, somebody liked it.

They had a bad reputation in the late 70's and 80's though. They used to be the dogs, now they are becoming "vintage". But I've played some nice ones from then. You can always throw tuners and your choice of hardware on them.

that's what i'd heard. that the the late 70s was a bad time. i wrote the guy. the neck's straight and never suffered a break.

    *sigh*.
  • Actually, the older ones had a lot of neck breaks. The headstock is angled so far back that there isn't much wood at the nut.
Nothing like a 58 burst falling over and breaking there.

    Huge *sigh*

yeah, i've seen all sorts of 50s pauls listed but with repaired necks. i'd think the 60s would have been worse with the slimmer neck.
  • ahh... left handed guitars... i play left handed re-strung. I can play right handed upside down, but i'm not as good. i cant play right handed to save my life.

so you play with the strings upside down a la coco montoya? or right-handed guitars restrung? either way, cool.

i've owned two right-handed electrics restrung for left but i couldn't deal with the sacrifice in balance.

i can't play right handed at all. in shops i have to flip them over and fake a few chords upside down to try things.

They were all SG style bodies in the 60's. The headstock was a little stronger then. I dropped my 68 sg once, hit the plywood stage. Ugh, but it didn't break !
I never dropped my 57 or 58. I'm afraid to even hold them now!

But neither of them ever broke.
