Pacific Northwest Tour???

I know its been a really tough time for the band. Postpone shows for 2 years, multiple cancelled shows due to COVID, Eddie's voice etc. I am still so happy they have giving it everything they have and staying on the road. I know they are about to head out on the second leg of the North American tour. If I remember right all these scheduled shows were suppose to be from the first leg of the tour 2 years ago. I know they are still trying to make that up and I appreciate that with all the adversity... but was wondering if there as been any talk of Seattle show or Portland Gigaton shows before they head back to the studio?

I would guess next year too. Which is kind of odd because they got California this year, so It's really Vancouver,Seattle, Portland.  Maybe a show or two In Alberta?  Random smaller city (Victoria please!)?   Seems like it would be a small Leg.  Maybe they do a Canada tour, and start or end it with Seattle/Portland shows?

Seems like doing a whole west coast leg would of made more sense, but I can also see the focus was mostly trying to make up the 2020 shows before the committed to additional stuff.

I still think a residency at the new Seattle arena is possible.

I've been hoping they'd add 2 or 3 shows at Climate Pledge Arena after they get back from Leg 2, maybe for November or December... but I'd happily take a Cascadia tour in the new year instead.

edited to add: Nov 25 - 27 looks open at Climate Pledge...

  • Nothing else this year I don't think. I'd bet on either Seattle/Portland tacked onto a Canadian arena run, or something similar to Home x Away next summer.

I sort of got to do this in 2000.

Saw Vancouver at the beginning of the tour before it went to Europe, then saw the last 4 shows of the tour (Portland, Boise and Seattle x2).    Only time I saw that many shows in a row.  Good times :)  Even got a professor to let use a write a midterm early so we could go.

If they play Seattle next year (or the Seattle area) I wonder where they would play.

Key Arena got a massive reno to become climate pledge arena, so there's sort of a new venue to play, but I'm not sure the capacity increased.  The demand for Seattle shows is usually off the charts.   They sold out two stadium shows there in 2018. The single show in 2013 wasn't nearly enough to satiate demand.

Do they play climate pledge, so they do more ballpark shows, or maybe they return to the Gorge?

My vote would be the Gorge.   I haven't been there since I saw Tom Petty in 2014.  That feels like it's been too long.

Do they not like the Gorge? That they haven't been back since 2006 is strange otherwise.

By 2009 they were overdue to play Key Arena.  2013 was in December, and then stadiums in 2018.  Gorge is also a pain to get to.

I was actually surprised at how few people the Gorge holds when I looked that info up earlier this morning. I assumed since it was this massive sloped field leading down to the Columbia River that it would seat 50k+...nope....only 27 and change. I know 27.5k is still more than a typical arena but having seen pictures, I assumed the number was a lot higher. The more you know...

When we were young and didn't have much for money, our solution was to save hotel money by driving through the night.  When the portland show ended, we drove to boise overnight.   I think we got to the hotel around 7am or something stupid early like that.  They let us check in that early (it still holds my record for earliest hotel checkin), that we slept for a bunch of hours, then got up to pick up our tickets (6th row because it had so few fan club members) and rocked the fuck out of the show, and slept at the hotel again.

The only thing that mildly nags at me, is this was probably my only chance to be front row... lol.   So few fan club members attended that they didn't seperate the tickets in tranches for different seniority groups.   If we had gotten in the ticket line instead of sleeping, we would of been front row :)  But that was hindsight finding out what happened after the fact.  Row 6 was balls out amazing in the moment.  The only other time I'd been that close was in the GA days and moshing to the front, but you spend more effort trying to stay upright and not get decapitated, then you do actually watching the show.

Still one of my all time favourite PJ shows.  Definitely my favourite from the Binaural Tour.  Might still be a top 5 of all the shows I've seen.

We'll never not play Boise again :)

Nice!  Bellingham would of been amazing.  Technically Bellingham is closer to me than Vancouver or Seattle.   Straight shot over on the Anacortes ferry.  I think we're both lucky for having gotten to see those warmup shows in small venues :)

Yes please. PNW leg, summer 2023. This whole area is a freakin screensaver in the summer so that's a huge bonus for travelers.
  • ZodZod Posts: 10,607
If it's an Arena show, I'd actually prefer winter lol... hotels are like 1/4 the cost in the winter than the summer. If it's an outdoor show, then absolutely in the summer.   Com'on Gorge!

Wonder if they ever thought of bringing Ohana Fest to the Gorge for a two-day or three-day festival. It is a pain to get there, so probably needs to be three-day to justify everyone rolling in the RVs.

lol, it's not that bad getting to the Gorge.  It's like a 3 hourish drive from Seattle, and most of is pretty fast and smooth sailing freeway action.

The pain to get there was when I moved from Victoria to Edmonton in 2006 a month before the shows and we decided to anyways.  Driving from Edmonton to the Gorge, now that was a pain :)

I also think Ohana is supposed to be a beach festival, so I'm not sure it would work at the Gorge.   Maybe they could do pj 35 or pj 40 at the gorge :)

Its wild to think that they played the Gorge 3 times in less than a calendar year. 9/1/05, 7/22/06, 7/23/06 and haven't been back since... or the fact that they have only played 2 Seattle shows in the last almost 9 years...
