    Holy shit!!
    What a find indeed.
This brings up an interesting topic. Everyone claims they supplied Jimi with his Fuzz, meyer, etc. So my question is, which one is the authentic fuzz?

Fuzz faces are temperamental. The environment plays a big role in their behavior. Often one could go through a whole shipment finding 1 or 2 worth a shit because of the nature of the germanium diodes they are constructed with. Jimi and later Eric Johnson went through hundreds. Roger Mayer modded Jimi's fuzz faces from Dallas Arbiter music. Roger also created a pedal called the Octavio that Jimi reportedly used for his octave and octave ghosting effects.
My Girlfriend said to me..."How many guitars do you need?" and I replied...."How many pairs of shoes do you need?" She got really quiet.

So the mayer fuzz is built to Jimi's original specs, or is this a best guess approach?

    see the mayer website. http://www.rogermayer.com

Keep in mind the 100 watt plexi at full volume and jimi's hands had a lot to do with the tone. The roger mayer fuzz faces (rockets) sound great but they have to be played loudly to get that tone.

also see the Sun Face category of http://www.analogman.com to learn more about germanium diodes. Specifically the NKT 275 found in many of the best fuzz faces.

Also Jacques makes a brilliant fuzz face called the Mercer Box or the custom shop wercer face. http://www.ts-808.com

It was analogman's website that got me thinking that many are selling Fuzz that Jimi used. Some say he used Mayer, and I like the CC2 considering you get 3 Jimi pedals in one case.
I am fairly confident I figured out the marketing that is going on, but when you read the Mayer website and then goto Dunlop for example it really implies someone is exagerating the truth.

Dunlop is exaggerating. Jim Dunlop bought the rights to the name of the Fuzz Face from Dallas Arbiter Music. Jimi used the Uni Vox Univibe as well also not a dunlop creation they do kind of a shitty copy as well. Roger Mayer is credited with actually working on Hendrix Fuzz faces.

As far as Dave Fox he is an audio genius. His credentials are on his site. Dave has been building fuzzes for years. Starting with his work at Crest Audio which he speaks about on his site. Also he got his start rebuilding studio mixers I believe. This guy knows his shit. The CC-2 actually is available with 3 fuzz cards so you can change the fuzz in the pedal to suit your needs because everyone has an Idea of what fuzz should sound like. The CC-2 is one of the best values I know of when it comes to finding the Jimi sound.

you should check out http://www.fulltone.com as well.

The best way I've found to recreate the jimi sound is to put on Axis Bold As Love and turn my sound system up!:D

That CC-2 is an amazing piece of equipment.

JofZ see this website click on Roger Mayer and then the link to the Photo of Roger and Jimi at the bottom. That should clear up the BS for you.

OK, now I get it. I guess I can also understand why his pedals are so damn expensive. I'll stick with the CC2 and call it a day :)

This is a good little link on Hendrix's effects during the Fillmore East concerts.
