the height screws have literally disintegrated from corrosion so i'm thinking of getting a set of these:

graphtech

any experience with them? if it goes well, i think i'll get the tune-o-matic models to replace the saddles from hell in the LP, dot and SG.

    Graph_Tech IS AWESOME.

Stone has them on a strat or two I think.

non conductive, and they don't break strings.

when I buy the new strat, that will be the first upgrade.

    My LP needs them badly.

i have string binding problems with the t-o-m bridges. especially in the dot (it needs a new nut too) but string breakage has never been an issue for me. heavier gauge strings probably help the breakage but hurt the binding.

my strat and tele have american standard saddles and i quite like them. it's a good design but this just seems like an opportunity to try something new.

The non conductivity makes it worth it, the bonus is that it moves freely and dosen't bind and thus stays in tune.

My LP is an 87 and it's beat to shit thus the little scratches cause binding problems and premature string breakage, I feel your pain. Graphtech also makes graphite and "Tusk" nuts but you might try some "Big Bends Nut Sauce" or something like that first.

I have better luck with DR strings than anything else.

I like the american standard saddles too, but a graphite version just seems perfect.

the jazzmaster had a graphtech nut. when the dot gets it's new one, it will be graphtech for sure. i'll do the saddles in it at the same time.

the bone nut in the les paul keeps thing relatively under control. we'll see how the SG behaves when it gets here...... hopefully today...... or something will have to get smashed.....

I bought a set for my custom Tele I am putting together but alas they don't fit the Gotoh bridge I chose! Out by a few mm's in string spread. Most annoying. I guess I'll keep them and put them on another Tele in future. My custom does have a graph tech nut and string tress so when it's finished I'll let anyone interested know what sort of affect these have on playability/sound etc.

Don't get em just yet. Take a look at these:

I bought a set of saddles to fix my string breakage issue. Much better then Graphtec IMO.

USA Custom Guitars recommended me the same, why are they better?

the 3 saddle bridge looks cool but it's a matter of a custom job to create a left-handed one (upcharge city) and it's not a break of breakage for me but corrosion in the screws. the saddles themselves are fine.

when i drop my reso off this weekend i'm going to ask if he's got height screws. if he does, problem solved.

Callaham spent some serious time on his parts, they all meet pre CBS specs. His parts are superior in every way, shape and form. Everyone I have spoken to about my breakage issues told me to call him, and I did :)

Sorry he couldn't help, maybe you aren't the only one who has this problem. I am sure you can set up a group buy or something and get the one off charges dropped.
Keep him in mind for the future, I am probably going to slowly swap out some parts for his.

My personal opinion is that any guitar with a Tune-O-Matic bridge needs Graphite saddles. My 57 RI Les Paul needed them badly, and the difference was night and day. Unfortunately, I've never had any experience with a Fender-style graphite bridgepiece. But I've never had any bad luck with Fender's designs (even if I do prefer the T-O-M and the Stop-tailpiece combo).
...and if you don't like it, you can suck on an egg.
