To the Band: a Cross-Country Tour & Voter Drive Initiative for October 2022, Ohana/Texas/D.C. V.3
One more pitch, combining the previous two I concocted, while factoring in swing vote races this fall:
Ohana to Vegas to Colorado Springs/Red Rocks to New Mexico to Texas to Louisiana to Florida to Georgia to SC to NC to Baltimore to D.C.
Reminiscent of the 2004 Vote For Change tour, 2022 is crucial for the band to help elect politicians who support their causes & interests.
"For this is no time for depression, or self-indulgent hesitance
This fucked-up situation calls for all hands, hands on deck"
This fucked-up situation calls for all hands, hands on deck"
1. Ohana Encore - Dana Point, CA Fri. 10/07 & Sat. 10/08 (Ed & Painted Shield)
2. Las Vegas, NV - Mon. 10/10, Tue. 10/11, or Wed. 10/12 (PJ, new venue - hit the road while the gear is still unpacked!)
- House
races that need a Blue win: Dina Titus (1st District), Susie Lee (3rd) & Steven Horsford (4th). Also, to elect Elizabeth Mercedes Krause (2nd district),
- to help Senator Catherine Masto hold her Senate seat

- - possible venues:
- T-Mobile Arena (the reliable choice, as long as we check vaccine & test status) 20,000
- Cashman Field (baseball, outdoors AND Metallica & Jerry Cantrell played there in '98) 12,500 <----
- Michelob Ultra Arena (UFC) 12,000
3. Glendale (Phoenix), AZ (make-up date has been covered, unlikely to stop in AZ again this year)
- House races that need a Blue win: Tom O'Halleran & Greg Stanton, and help elect Kirsten Engel & Delina DiSanto (or whoever the Democratic primary winners are) to Congress
- while we're at it, flip Districts 4,5,6, and 8. Paul Gosar should be arrested for helping the plot to overthrow the government, but y'know... details, details.
- to help Shuttle Commander & Senator Mark Kelly hold his Senate seat
- to help Katie Hobbs, Marco Lopez, or the Democratic primary winner take the Governor's chair
- - possible venues:

- House
races that need a Blue win: Diana Degette (1st District), Joe Neguse (2nd), Isacc McCorkle (4th), Santiago Goenaga-Torres (5th), Jason Crow (6th), Brittany Pettersen (7th), and the open House seat for Yadira Caraveo (8th)
- most importantly, help Sol Sandoval (3rd District) defeat January 6th co-plotter Lauren Boebert. Sarah Palin-lite is an embarrassment to Colorado, and the country
- to help Senator Michael Bennet hold his Senate seat
- to help Governor Jared Polis hold the Governor's chair
- while
they will hit Denver in September, we are a nation with short
memories. Might be best to hit up lower CO in the fall & keep people
motivated. If Colorado is a no-go, then head straight to New Mexico
- - possible venues:
- Fiddler's Green (outdoors, a regular jam band touring stop) 18,000
- Broadmoor World Arena (in Colorado Springs, owned by ASM Global - PJ's most frequent booking partner) 9,000

- The Pit (basketball), Albuquerque, NM (indoors, so not as likely as an outdoor venue, but still viable) 13,480

- Tingley Coliseum, Albuquerque, NM (arena football) 11,571

If any of them turn out to be a scuzzbag, then dump 'em. ' Til then, Vote Blue down ballot!
- send a message to Ted Cruz that 2024 isn't that far off...

- it's a long shot, but help elect Gary Chambers, or Luke Mixon to the Senate & defeat John Kennedy (right name, wrong dude)
- the Governor's seat isn't up this year - but it's on the way, there are ASM venues & ya gotta plant seeds of dissent
- Smoothie King Center (ASM Global) 17,800

- to help defeat ineffectual Governor Ron DeSantis (75,000 Floridians dead from Covid-19) and elect Nikki Fried to the Governor's chair
- a long-awaited return to Florida. Theoretically, they could wrap up there, but Miami will be the first city partially under water (in our lifetime) in Florida if we don't act. And the next state will be just as sweet...

How she's still there, is a mystery).
- to help re-elect Rev. Raphael Warnock to the Senate (don't vote for Herschel Walker even if you are an NFL fan. The guy shrugged off Uvalde like a 1st year lineman).
- to help defeat Brian Kemp and elect Stacey Abrams to the Governor's chair
- electing Stacey Abrams as Governor would send a message that the old ways of doing things are over

- to help defeat the GOP nominee and elect Wes Moore, or Tom Perez (yeah, I know he sucks, but a Republican would be worse) to the Governor's chair
- the Royals Farm renovation threw a real monkey wrench into the band's plans, so this is welcome & due
- - possible venues:
- Oriole Park at Camden Yards, Baltimore, MD (another legendary ballpark) 45,971
- Merriweather Post Ampitheatre, Columbia, MD (would be legendary) 19,319

12. Washington D.C. - Tue. 11/01, Wed. 11/02 or Thu. 11/03
- - possible venues: - last ditch effort to keep voters motivated & empowered - possible live stream?

Any thoughts on outdoor venues welcome! (Indoor venues will be a fall back). Any candidates listed are not official endorsements of the band. If you know of a Republican, or an Independent who has an actual chance of winning who shares the band's views on women's rights, gun violence, and environmental issues (all 3), by all means: mention them & I'll give 'em a look. If any of the above mentioned Democrats don't reflect the band's views, I'll gladly remove them.
At the end of the day, this thread is a logistical pitch to the band to travel the country one more time this year, play some more shows, work with regular partners like HeadCount & Surfrider to promote causes they are passionate about, and maybe, just maybe, elect officials who will help enact policies that support those causes.
Regardless...
