Sounds busier to me. OG has a sparseness that jibes better with the old school dystopian theme of alienation.
This sounds like it was remixed for a dystopia affected by social media and 24-hour news cycles. Good for 2018 (and present), but I’m iffy on whether I’ll buy it.
It’s fine work, but it just has a completely different feel based on this track.
I don’t think I’ve felt this strongly about any other big alternate mixes.
Very good points. I agree with everything you said. It definitely does feel like a modern dystopia, rather than the Animal Farm-esque impression achieved on the original recording.
Speaking strictly from a sonic level, I am completely blown away. The instrument/vocal separation is expertly done. This is production at its finest -- and Rick Wright has never sounded so good! This is going to sound amazing on the hi-fi.
