So, I just finished reading Not For You, and about to dive into The Philosophy of Pearl Jam which just came out. As Even Flow plays during NBA conf. finals.... Jesus Anyway! WTF, any other good books, or audio books (even better). Ive been a fan that was able to start reading about the band around '92 as a 11 yr old lol. Cool to hear about early 90's. Not For You was a good read, would recommend- I went audio book, but bought both. Its good, has alot of quotes. Goes on crazy tangents though that are hard to follow, but some do lead to moments of levity. Guy is a good writer overall.

Leaves out soo much from Avocado on... has anyone covered this era. Or since its the era of media is it all just out there. I mean the way this band is with keeping things in house (some loyalty with these guys) there has to be stories from those close about songs, variations, personal stuff. Its a whole other era for the band which I think is why he probably left it out, maybe he is planning on another book. He sums up Pearl Jam fans strikingly well in the end I believe.

I know 5 against 1 is out there, but is that worth reading again. Is there anything else out there besides PJ20 that isn't fluff, rumor and articulate? Please faithful lmk this book was so fascinating! Philosophy one is gonna be work...

Keep us posted on your thoughts about Philosophy of Pearl Jam. I have it but have not yet started reading it

It is worth checking out the English translation for "Pearl Jam: The More You Need- The Less You Get".  The author has a unique perspective on the band.  His burgeoning friendship with Stone allows a closer look into the group.  He is able to gain exclusive interviews rather than quote previously published comments that so many other PJ books have relied on.

There’s “This All Encompassing Trip” about a guy who follows the band across Canada in 2005 (I think). I’ve yet to read it but hope to do so soon.

Not for you is a tough read, especially the sections after 1998…I would not recommended this one.

Agree with you aurelgugus however, pre 98 there's some great tidbits, quotes, stories. I would recommend the audio book, pushes you through past the hokey parts

I've got the philosophy book too, haven't opened it yet. I did not like Not For You at all. The More You Need, the Less You Get I liked okay. 5 Against 1 is tabloid stuff but a quick/easy read. Looking forward to Hyden's book.

Does anyone foresee any of them writing a book? Just as we were  on the topic... After Not For You read, I have a TON more respect for Stone, even though he is snarky, lol. He is seriously underrated. Guy has come up with generational riffs.
