Are these the purple unicorns of the Pearl Jam fanbase? There's always a lot of shade and hate to those who even hint at a moral/political philosophy that doesn't perfectly align with the band's, a lot of assumptions and stereotypes we deem wrong to apply to other groups and the individuals in them.

Has anyone interacted with any of these folks? Would they be welcome in the "family," or does that word only stretch so far?

Anyone who shares a love of the band and is able to conduct themselves in a respectful way will do fine, regardless of any political position. If that's what you are after then you'll do fine. If what you are looking for is an abortion debate then take it to AMT.

I'm a Libertarian, but know and am friends with a ton of Republican PJ fans that travel and follow the band (I think if there was an anonymous fan vote you would be surprised how the politics shake out).  I hate all the divisiveness - we all love the same band.

Your problem won't be your position on abortion. Your problem will be looking for an argument about your position on abortion.

I don’t care either way.  What I do mind is people wanting the band to “shut up and play”

They have been political since day 1. It’s part of the deal

More that there's a specific place on these forums for this, and it's not The Porch. If you want to talk politics, head to A Moving Train, and leave it there when you come back here.

No, anti-choice makes no sense at all.  It is that they think a baby in the womb is a human and killing it would be murder.  That is their position.

Stay away from AMT. that’s my only advice.
