I am confused? You have like a new standard SG right? Don't they still make them? How did you find out how many they made?
it's left handed. in naturalburst which isn't available as standard production. gibson made 6 specially for two stores in the states last year. i got my mitts on one. for about 60% of the original cost.

any thoughts on hacking it up and installing a mini humbucker in between the other two?
I didn't think so.
Play it, it deserves to be played.
My Girlfriend said to me..."How many guitars do you need?" and I replied...."How many pairs of shoes do you need?" She got really quiet.

I don't people really understand how difficult it is to obtain a quality guitar or bass when your left-handed.
Compared to right-handed equipment which will always sell, there is not that hugh demand for left-handed equipment. Which many companies like Gibson and PRS still consider speciality items. Thus, the extra cost and the limited numbers that they'll make available. Most professional lefties order customized equipment which makes it doubly hard for the average
left-handed person to afford a quality guitar or bass. Thus, the beauty of
e-bay and friends in NAMM.
Like I said, she's a beauty.
SIN EATERS--We take the moral excrement we find in this equation and we bury it down deep inside of us so that the rest of our case can stay pure. That is the job. We are morally indefensible and absolutely necessary.
PRS has quit with the lefties entirely. i would imagine a custom ordered one would be well into 5 figures.
gibson has now moved their 335 and les paul custom production (along with 61 reissue SGs etc) to the custom shop, further increasing the price another 50-60% over the huge jump all gibsons have taken in the past few years.
someday i will get my mitts on a 335 but it's going to have to come from ebay. i'll never find one new that i can afford.

screw that, get a dot or get a 5 ply maple body from warmouth or whoever and do it yourself. Even at 2 grand it's just silly for righthanded players.
The Epiphone Elite Dot, when you swap the P/U's lacks nothing at all. for 800 less.
The regular Dot you have should suit all our needs fine.

heart attack inducing when it's on the back of the neck at the headstock though. the finish is quite thick and it looks like there was some unresolved stress there. it's not a wood crack but it scared the fuck outta me. i'm having it verified by my tech this saturday that i don't need to start crying.

my LP is checking nicely though.
all the stresses of a new father.

it's not like i'm going to try to do it myself but it's nice to know it can be fixed if i so desire.
yeah, it dosen't look like a major operation to do it either. I was just mocking your reaction to minor finish checking, some people pay 10 times what you payed for that guitar for "finish checking"

if it was anywhere but at the headstock tilt, i wouldn't be freaking at all.
sometimes I come in here and read these posts, and I swear I need to take a musical language course on this stuff to understand most of what you guys write.
