Hi everyone. My wife and I will be going to our first international show in Imola. We’re really excited. I’ve been to a lot of PJ shows myself, but never outside of the US, although we are pretty familiar with Italy, having traveled there a handful of times.
I am wondering if anyone with experience with this venue can talk a bit about what it’s like to see a show there. I get that it is a racetrack. I have the basic GA tickets as far as I understand. We are not likely to be very close to the stage — we are hoping to catch a quiet corner somewhere and chill with some wine and whatever concession food they serve in Emilia Romagna. I’m just wondering if you could tell me a bit more about what to expect — how lively the crowds, how hard it is or easy it easy to find good spots to sit/stand, what it’s like seeing a show in Italy vs. the states (I assume a different energy consistent with the cultural differences), maybe even tidbits like what kinds of foods they serve at the concession stands; I assume they won’t have hotdogs and nachos!).
That’s it. As I said, very much looking forward to the show. I was at the San Diego show last night, so I am back in the PJ mindset and am just looking forward.

never Imola but can tell you the fans are bananas
full of passion and energy!
friendly vibes
It depends which base your son is at (and how long of a leave he can get), but you could easily make it a bit of a vacation and do some sightseeing before/after the concert. The two main international airports are in Rome and Milan. Milan is closer to Bologna (about ~1.5 hour or so by train), while Rome is a shade under 2.5 hours by train. Rome has a lot more sightseeing to do than Milan does, so that's something to consider if you're interested in that part of the trip.
