Traveling with posters

I’ve actually never flown to a PJ show always drove. And yeah, I’m a poster guy! So what! :D
I know the size of a personal item varies, but if you have a tube sticking out of a backpack will they let that fly? Or is just safe to check a bag

If I'm checking a bag, I usually put my tube in my checked bag.  Otherwise I've also carried it on with my backpack.

This is good to know I’m not an experienced flyer. Don’t wanna check a bag if I can bring a backpack and a tube on

Sometimes it depends on the airline but all major airlines allow a carry on bag and a personal item. I fly Delta and they've never said anything to me about it.

Never had an issue on southwest sticking a tube in the overhead along with my bag. And some smaller tubes could fit diagonally in a standard overhead size suitcase.

I'm curious to see how the budget airlines that charge for overhead space handle it. I'm flying Frontier to Oakland and thinking about shipping a tube to myself at the hotel so I'd only get charged on the return if there's a fee to carry on the tube

Just stick the tube out the top of your carry on backpack. Never had an issue

Write your info on the tube so it can be recovered easier if you lose it. I'd rather carry mine on. Mail, it could get crushed.

I’ve carried on to the airplane with a backpack. Never had issues. They ask to look in it or you put through the X-ray machine.

If you fold them in 1/2, then 1/2 again, they fit right in your carryon.

The bigger the crease the more value it adds right? So I like folding it in 1/2 like 3 or 4 times. At least.

I bought this tube at an Aaron Bros. store back around 2006 and it’s been my tour companion now for many years. It has a shoulder strap that I can easily attach to my backpack and carry on with me as well as to the show.

I've always looked at it this way. If you can go into one of the thousands of bookstores/newsstands within the terminals and purchase books, etc. Carrying a tube in your hand shouldn't be a problem while boarding your plane. Haven't had any issues. Good luck!
