    I got a chuckle out of thinking about someone who genuinely doesn’t care about other peoples’ Pearl Jam opinions, but who comes to this board anyway and clicks on threads with titles like “People who don’t like Sirens suck”.

    Please w the criticism. Y’all make me remember the words and sing small town out loud, so to borrow nick’s comment…I don’t mind hearing small town live, but I certainly dont want pressures to sing it out loud or remember the lyrics. While we are at the 1-800 end of things here, could y’all have written why go as a hard rock tune? And ok, I’ve come round a bit on DOTC.

    Sirens has deep meaning for me.  Jan. 13, 2014 my 2 month old daughter stopped breathing while we were just relaxing at home.  I  performed CPR in attempt to resuscitate her until paramedics arrived. she had turned completely blue and it was another 10 minutes before the paramedics were able to get her to finally gasp for breath.  I spent the next 24 hours in the hospital and left my wife at the hospital so I could go home to care for our two year old son. As I'm driving home I turn the radio on for some distraction and it's on PJ Radio (of course).  Sirens starts playing.  The lyrics spoke to me at that moment like no other song in my life.  

    Oh, had to take your hand, and feel your breath
    For fear this someday will be over
    I pull you close, so much to lose
    Knowing that, nothing lasts forever
    I didn't care, before you were here
    I danced in laughter, with the ever after
    But all things change, let this remain

    I had to pull over as the lyrics hit me like a ton of bricks as the gravity of the situation really sunk in as her fate was still unknown.  She was finally released after 3.5 weeks.  She made a full recover and today she is a perfectly healthy and extremely sharp 8 year old girl.  So, yeah, Sirens is special and it fucking rocks.

    For me too, this song is very emotional, if for nothing else, the time period it came out.  To this day, when I hear Sirens, it's difficult not to let it get to me.  So, first to the OP, to each his own; and secondly, please tell us your favorite songs so we can piss on you too.     :lol: 

    The joy of music is its ability to touch people all for different reasons.  And never shall that emotion be dismissed.

    Sirens - hated it when it came out. Hate it more now. 

    Just breathe - immediate hate on first listen. Seeing it live made me not hate it. Eds finger picking skills are nicely displayed on this.

    the fixer - maybe their worst song ever, but they fixed this by basically not playing it live anymore. 

    Let them records spin - kind of a boring guitar riff. The song rips live tho, with the end jam and mike solo. 

    Buckle up - its ok. Stone wrote an interesting guitar part. I feel like his guitar work is better than the resulting song.

    but now to enforce the OP's thread, these lyrics are chilling and 100% realistic.  You just never know.  Here one minute, gone the next.
